Can we all just go back to work now? (M855 ban news)

The nonsense I was referring to was the empty shelves, panic buying, inflated prices on ALL .223/5.56 ammo since the first mention of the green tip ban. The fight for our 2nd amendment rights will never be over

Totally agreed...(unfortunately). Yet I'll never understand why the Constitution and BoR do not have the final word in this deal...seems real simple to a real simple guy.

What is a good price to start pickinh up the m885 when it drops?

1934, 1968, 1986, 1994-2014...look at all the common sense laws. It's all ridiculous. If people were paying attention we'd still have some freedom.

"Gun Free Zones" especially tick me off. How ludicrous.

The "antis" as I'll call them love these self propagating situations. Unarm everyone but the thugs, then put out constant propaganda of what thugs and crazies are doing with guns to pass ever more restrictions.

"Gun Control" is the biggest farce perhaps in our nation's history. Millions of people have been duped in believing that giving up their rights is best for the whole. It's good for somebody, but that's not us. It's good for a swelling government to have more control and influence.

As others mentioned, it never ends. At least as of late some folks are coming to their senses and we are gaining numbers.

The ban on Chinese ammo and imports, arbitrary regulations on "non-sporting" firearms imports of all kinds, the refusal to import US made surplus firearms of all types, the recent 7n6 ammo ban and other never ending regulations and restrictions means it's s never ending battle.

Complacency lost the firearms community too much already.

As far as the ATF goes they're still calling bracing an AR pistol making an illegal SBR (which has severe penalties), and they are also modifying the framework to make those submitting gun trusts for NFA items require a Chief LEO sign off. NFA trusts became popular due to many Chief LEO's going beyond their position and de facto banning NFA items in their respective counties by not signing off, instead if doing their job which is ensuring the person is eligible (IE not a felon, deemed mentally defective, a spouse beater, or a drug addict).

I'm off on a tangent now, but if you think this stuff is over it is far from.

The popular media shows anti gun propaganda on any story involving our industry. Ball ammo becomes "armor piercing assault ammunition" a rifle is an "assault weapon" and police and public safety is at stake nation wide. While we won this one for now I don't believe we have the upper hand.

It saddens me hearing fellow gun owners say, "we don't need armor piercing ammo anyway."

This will probably piss some people off but my attitude is very simple. If I can be shot with it or killed with it, I ought to at least be able to have a copy of it to give me a fighting chance, and I don't care if it's another civilian, civilian law enforcement, the military or an enemy combatant shooting at me. I feel exactly the same way regardless.

Should I be able to own a tank. <expletive> Yea. And I shouldn't have to have anybody's permission to buy one either since the person coming after me with one already has his.

Some people, liberals, believe that anyone with a gun is a potential assailant. When seconds count, the police are just minutes away! I read that somewhere and thought yeah. Don't get me wrong, the policemen I've known personally, and all the other officers who daily put their lives on the line for our safety, are heroes IMO. When everyone else is running away they run towards the danger, like firemen and EMTs to name a few. The simply fact that so few are responsible for so many and so much territory, dictates that an officer is not always seconds away! To all the Civil Servants and Military Members, who daily protect our way of life, I say thanks for your service!

This makes me laugh, saw a guy buying thousands of rounds of 556 at Walmart just after the first announcement (for resale). Bet he thought the was a genius until today.

IMO, the panic will subside slowly. Just because there isn't an imminent ban, doesn't mean that ammo will suddenly reappear. Demand will still be greater than supply for a few months. Some firearms enthusiasts who got caught off guard will buy ammo to build up a cushion of 1/2 - 1 year's worth of ammo relative to their normal shooting volume. Some will go into overbuy mode. You've also got to remember that the West Coast Port Strike(s) disrupted the supply of nearly everything. Complete ammunition and ammunition components were stuck on container ships that were unable to unload. International distributors wouldn't ship orders because it was pointless. Think about it. Wolf Gold .223 is Taiwanese manufacture. Which port will it come through? When it's all done and ammo is readily available, ammo will end up being a little more expensive than before the panic. It always does.

Remember, there's a Presidential election in 2016. The closer to the election, expect another run on all ammo, all semi-auto firearms especially modern sporting rifles, and all standard capacity magazines in excess of 10 rounds. I don't advocate buying multiple year's worth of ammo. That's a silly waste of cash. I do advocate keeping at least 6 to 8 months worth of ammo relative to your normal shooting volume. That should see you through a panic cycle. It will give you enough of a cushion to sit back and pity/laugh at the whiners who didn't take prudent measures to ensure they can continue to indulge in the shooting sports relatively uninterrupted.

Shenanigans like this have certainly been good for the firearms industry. More people are buying firearms and ammunition like never before. The ATF has pretty much indicated they aren't done yet and the same goes with those in the rest of the Executive Branch and the pro ban crown in Congress. They will keep "throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks."

Those of us thatnoticed that the ATF said "at this time" and that they are waiting for the commenting period to end are still nervous. I was kind of disappointed in the NRA for leaving that out of their overzealous victory articles on their website. They make it sound like it's a done deal.

On a side not.....there have been some cleared shelves at Walmart in my area right after the announcement made the news (by the way it was weeks after the ATF actually first went public) but they were, and still are, quickly restocked. I've been watching ammoseek and the prices at the local big box stores and the prices either didn't go up at all or just a little. The substantial price gauging was mainly on some of the bulk ammo websites. I have to say that overall the ammo situation (both price and availability) wasn't (or should I say isn't?) as bad as it could have been.

Crony Capitalism at it's best. I hope he loses allot of money or ends up with a garage full of ammo and doesn't even have a rifle to shoot it.

Unfortunately i have 5.56 guns with no ammo. Ive only been looking online. Ill have to check he big box stores

You guys realize the Dimmocrats just wrote a letter to the ATF specifically requesting they ban the 855 and all other ammo that will shoot through soft armor?

It is a LONG way from being over... trust me: a ban on 855 is coming, and that won't be the only ban. I figure Obama is going to figure out how to ban ALL 5.56 ammo.

And then the fun begins...

To be expected. An argument against the M855 ban is that any round that travels fast enough will defeat level 2 soft body armor. Every time someone brought up that argument, I wanted scream out "SHUT UP!". The gun grabbers are not very firearms saavy, and I didn't think it was right to remind them of this.

The 7.62x25 tokarev pistol round defeats your average body armor what's all the hub bub, bub?

My guns shoot paper and will never harm anyone.

Once a ban is in place. How hard is it to get it overturned?

Also if they ban the rounds. They just xant manufacture them right? But you can shoot and sell what you have?
