I am as happy as a clam!!! All of the people on my most despised four list are embarrassed/disappointed. Emporer Daley was counting on the Olympics to save the city's economy. The new construction involved would have displaced thousands of low income family's. Part of the game plan.

It was never going to "save" the city's economy under ANY circumstances. What it WAS going to do was bail out some questionable real estate ventures in which Valerie Jarrett was heavily involved.

My thought is: Daley would screw a pile of rocks if he thought there was a snake hiding under it. The OLYMPIC win would put a lot of people back to work (probable not Chicagoans) and make him look like the "Godfather". Daley's "gentrification" of Chicago has come to a standstill since the real estate falldown. I'd venture a guess that new construction and conversion of old industrial property's to condos remains 35% or more unoccupied or in foreclosure. Daley was hoping to cover his tracks with a new injection of O LIMP ic $$$$$. Mr. mort666 we always seem to be at odds?

Wow, I see now that Chicago (errr... Illinois) blew 50 million on this effort to get the Olympics.

Seriously, what the hell did all that money go for? Bribes to the IOC? Or just into the pockets of Chicago politicians?
