Chicago NOT getting the Olympics

So, did Rio de Janeiro get it? I was sort of hoping they would. Scenic place. Maybe the TV cameras will even get down to the beaches. ;)

Texas Star--Yes. Or, as Bugs Bunny would say, "Rio de Januario." ;)

You know, as an American, I can honestly say I'm glad somebody else got a chance to host it. After all, since 1980 (inclusive) we've hosted 4 Olympics. This contest is something that needs to be shared with the world.

Obama forgot the first rule of proposals -

Never publicly go before a board with a proposal unless the approval is locked up beforehand.

What a pitiful embarrassment!

And this guy is going to keep nukes out of the hands of Iran?

Axelrod was already on the tube condemning the "political forces at work in the IOC". What a joke.

Gee Whiz, the "One" don't walk on water after all......

66K an hour to fly Air Force one, I wonder how much that plane's junkets have cost the American taxpayer since the "One's" election.

Don't forget his wife flew there a few days before to throw down the rose pedals for him......and she didn't fly coach on Copenhagen Air.

But that was only a 727. She and the Oprah had to make such a sacrifice you know.

I laughed at the AP write up for this, "It will be the first Summer Olympics held in the Southern Hemisphere..."

Ummm Australia has hosted it twice and last I checked it hadn't drifted north of the Equator.

I'm pretty concerned that "The Oprah" was dissed. She is going to kick some serious butt now! Oh well, like Rush said, "Houston, the EGO has landed." :D

I heard that the IOC vote was a vote against America due to Bush's hostile policies. BS. chicago didn't deserve it, and the taxpayers sure couldn't afford to foot the entire bill, plus a few billion for others.

For anyone that hasn't been there, Rio is a wonderful place. I've been there a number of times. Perfect? Hardly, but a fun place none the less. There are some folks in for a better time than they can imagine.

As an IL Taxpayer, I'm really glad Chicago got thrown out on the first round. The state is 8 Bill lion in the red, don't know where they thought they would get the $$$ to put this together, other than from my pocket to line the Chicago politicians pockets.

About time Obama got the message, what you say doesn't carry that much weight!

I am pleased for Rio. I read that there were thousands waiting on the beach there to hear the news, and they went nuts at the win. And their president had tears in his eyes, talking about how much it meant to their country.

They gonna need to work on their crime rate in Rio tho. Hopefully this will give them the impetus do do something about it.
