Clean your CCW often as possible

My little brother came over yesterday and I happened to ask him when was the last time he took his weapon out, inspected and cleaned it. Because i know he hasnt shot it in over a month since he's been on his new work schedule.

So i take his Shield .40 down, and this is what i discovered right off the bat. This is all lint, most likely lint from his shirt where his shirt over hangs and covers his weapon. All of this got there just by him wearing his weapon. So remember to inspect ur CCW weekly because it can and will get dirty whether u shoot it or not. A clean weapon will perform 100X's better than a dirty weapon, and i wouldnt want to bet my life on that either, lol.

This is very good advice. I would add to it to use a lubricant that doesn't attract dirt. You will find that it reduces the chances of your gun looking like this.

I have never gone a full month without shooting my EDC, but it has never looked even close to that.

I clean my CCW so much I had to purchase a second CCW b/c I have to be armed while I'm cleaning my primary, LOL
