Cleaning Blued Firearms

I would like to elaberate on the usage of nevrdull for cleaning, I didn't mean for it to be used as a sole cleaning agent for your gun. sorry if that is the way it sounded, I use Hoppes to clean the bore, cylinder holes, and the general cleaning of the gun itself, after the initial cleaning if there are any stubborn areas that need attention, i.e. carbon on exterior of cylinder, oily finger print marks on barrel from heating, nevrdull will take them off with minimal effort,

It's a great product for aluminum or stainless. I've used it alot on aluminum, I've also seen it take chrome off a bumper after several applications. Problem is by the time you see what it's doing it's to late. Hoppes #9 is really all you need for a blue gun but there are other good products to, the main thing you want to do is keep some oil on that blue, it can rust over night.

I just use hoppes or clp on a blue gun and the cylinder face can be a bit stained. It's too easy to do damage with any of the polishes.

I should add that Hoppes #9 will take nickel plateing off, great for a blue handgun but don't use it on nickel.

What some be used for nickel plated guns since we have a topic of cleaning going on.
