*&%$### coyotes got my dog

SC,

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. Just looking at his pictures shows the intelligence, sweetness and joy he had.

Time will heal the hurt but not the memories. May eventually you only be able to smile and think of all the good ones. I also hope another of God's special creations comes to brighten your life and give you the joy that only comes from a great dog!

Happy hunting with the coyotes too. If I catch one slipping around on our deer lease this fall I'll drop it in memory of your sweet little dog.

Tom

I can't walk my small dogs because of Pit Bulls that are turned loose or wander off from Chicago or Gary. My little dogs mean so much to me that I can imagine what your feeling. I had 2 dogs die last year and I cried like a baby. We've got few Coyotes around, the dog packs kill them.

P.S.. I'm really sorry about the loss of your dog. I hated to read your story. I really worry about where my now year old dogs will go when I die.

SC, sorry for the loss of your friend. Dogs have a way of looking right into your soul and liking what they see so much that they will become your best friend.

I am not sure what state you are from, but my local animal control considers yotes vermin, and shoot on sight, do not call animal control.

There are other control measures that are cheap and effective, if you need more ideas, please PM me and I will pass them along to you.

Please stay safe, sometimes the coyotes crossbreed and the resulting animals are big and viscious.

Post pics of the coyotes when you get 'em. Let me know what your going to hunt with and I'll send you a box of ammo.

R. Walter is a typical coward. He is brave sitting behind his keyboard. I hope he is gone for good. We don't need idiots like him here. We have enough enemies on the outside, and in the government. To post something that cruel and thoughtless is inexcusable!

I ran into him about 6 years ago on the C*** forum and he was the same way then. I see he hasn't changed any. He even thinks he is actually smart or has a modicum of a brain. I would hope the mods would ban him for good.

Sorry for your loss. Terrible way to lose a good friend.

My daughters fiance was just telling me last weekend about the pack running behind his house near Ann Arbor. He said they were living behind a neighbors garage by a wood/brush pile. The neighbors don't want to do anything (animal rights folks?) and crazy thing is they have a small dog and baby in the house. He would like to do something because he has his dog and my daughters little dog living there, but doesn't want to run afoul of the law.

Call the regional DNR office, and they can hook you up with a local trapper who will come out. During the trapping season, they usually won't charge you for their services because they can sell the hides. That is exactly what I did. My old dalmation that died last year was slow at getting around, and I watched him closely to make sure he was safe. That is why I called the DNR in the first place. I told them I didn't want my dog attacked, and that in my area shooting isn't allowed, but that I would shoot any I saw coming on to my property, and they hooked me right up with a trapper.:)

Coyotes are a fact of life.

Coyotes are a fact of life. There are a lot of dogs missing in this neck of the woods also. I understand that donkeys are being utilized to protect live stock. At least that's the conventional wisdom. None the less there are a lot more donkeys than there use to be.

I am very sorry to hear of your loss, very traumatic!
I live in a big development (17.5 sq mi) many 5-7 acre lots, people keep horses, lots of pines and live oaks.
There are at least two packs of coyotes roaming, they pass through about once a week. They are very quiet unless a siren goes by on the main road, then you find out that they are in the underbrush at the edge of the yard. I hear them a lot but see them seldom.

Several people have lost small dogs and cats, some are grabbed in sight of their owner. I always carry when walking the cats, if I have to fire it's going to scare the crap out of our pets, but I have no other solution.

Sorry about your Dude. That had to be horrific to watch or know that he was helpless to a pack of coyotes.
Hope your family recovers soon.

Hello there, Lee.

Please accept my condolences on the loss of your little buddy, Dude. He sure looked as though he had alot of personality.

George

folded him up like a well used Kleenex!
I love that!
Lee, I see you're in the SE USA. I'm in the SE too. I'm more East than South but it sure would be fun to "fold" a few of them up with you.
As others have said, post picts of a few of the deceased if you can.
Sorry for your loss, he sure was a cute fellow.

damn, I hate to hear this. SC I am sorry for your loss. I get very attached to my dog. Had to put down my best buddy (my vet took care of this for me) back in Jan. and it nearly killed me. Every time I say I'm not going to get so attached and every time I love the next one even more. Part of life, getting older and more soft I guess.

Any way, I would like to share these words with you as my brother did with me back in Jan. I don't know the origin, but kind words nonetheless:

Sometimes during the course of life we are fortunate to have a true friend, be it man or beast. It hurts when we lose that friend and even though it hurts to remember, we don't ever want to forget the good memories we have.

SC, get yourself another dog and go to work on the yotes.
