I'd love to see smith open up a crowd funding website. Users would post there gun ideas, like in this forum. You could the vote for ideas. The most popular ideas would then be researched by smith to see at what price point and time line they could be brought to market. They would determine that they need X number of preorders to make a model economically viable, and once they hit that number, the begin production.
This seems like a no brainer win win for smith. It allows the customer to put forth product ideas, it takes the risk out of new products and variants, and it allows them to diversify.
