We've had Daisy about 6 weeks now and she has added a bundle of energy to our lives.

Every morning I get up a little before daylight to get her breakfast and then get ready for a morning walk. We started out just walking around the house, but it didn't take long before we were venturing out further and exploring around the farm.

I started her leash training right off and she's pretty much got that down, but now that she will come to me on command we usually start our walks on the leash but I take it off after 10 minutes or so to let her romp and explore. She seemed fascinated by a half dozen honking geese that flew low over us this morning. She is certainly growing fast, has already more than doubled in size but is still covered in puppy fur.

One rather funny occurrence happened when I was setting out live traps for raccoons. Seems we have some new young ones showing up recently, so she was "helping" me set out the live trap as I baited it with deer corn and marshmellows. When I turned to pick up my bucket of corn and bag of marshmellows I heard the trap slam shut. I turned to see that apparently Daisy couldn't resist trying out a marshmellow and found herself in a rather embarrassing situation. I think it was lesson learned. We caught a raccoon that night and the next morning she wasn't too keen in getting very close.

I am so glad that she is keeping you entertained and slowly getting you trained ;)

I am still on my first Border Collie, and I can tell you that she won't be my last. They are really great kids.

Thanks for sharing.

I took care of a Border Collie for a co worker for a while in 2002. Very smart almost too smart for his own good at times. Wait until she gets the stare down, when she is trying to herd something.

UPDATE: Daisy is 4 months old this week and is starting to grow into her feet. At this point she has most of the typical commands down; sit, stay, come here, down, and go find the squirrel. Here on the Faulkner homestead she's got plenty of room to roam around, but we've been leashing training every day. Border collies have a reputation of not readily taking to the leash but she has taken to it in short order, probably because we do leash practice every day.

We took a hike out in the boonies this weekend and I snapped this picture of her at an old log homestead. She was not quite dry after taking a swim across a creek to see what was on the other side, then swam right back across to let me know nothing was over there . . . she seems like the water.
