Do you carry more than one gun frequently?

One for me, Mostly

I carry mostly one gun but have, on occasion, carried two for the same reason the Smoke outlined. I had a winter coat with a breast pocket with an outside zipper. It was a perfect place for my Model 37.

I too avoid all questionable places, places where trouble could find me. There have been situations, usually with LEOs, where a second handgun saved the day. However, these are very rare events.

A few years ago I did a favor for the owner of a security firm who found himself shorthanded. I guarded a "we-buy-gold" establishment that would have been a tactical nightmare to defend. I carried a Glock 19 and a Kahr P9 with a spare mag. for each. The Glock rode in a strong side belt holster and the Kahr was farther south in an ankle rig.

Usually just one, I mean, if I can't make it 10 miles to Wal Mart and back with a snub .38 and a speed strip I don't know what to say:) If I'm going on an in-state road trip I'll have a Mossberg 500 stashed in the back seat with a small auto somewhere in the car, as well as my primary carry wheelgun.

Usually I carry a .38 or .357 wheelgun , either a Smith like my 64-7 or a Ruger such as my 2 3/4 Speed Six .357, or one of my others....if my attire permits I carry 2 speed strips. I figure the same loadout as a revolver carrying police officer should get me through the day....if I need more than 18 rounds of .357 and I'm still alive then I'm in a firefight and hopefully I've fought my way to the car by then.

Carrying 2 guns can be cumbersome in the summer, a good folder like a Spyderco is often a better choice than a little .22 pop gun BUG, puncture wounds and slices to the face are often a good way to get an assailant off of you if things have degraded that far.......I also just ordered a Triple K 8" Slap Jack, as a "backup" or for when deadly force is not required. A lead weight to the temple can be a better option sometimes than bullets. I believe in "escalation of force" and if some meth head picks a fight with me outside a store, for example, It's not a good idea to fire a gun. I got the bug in my brain to get an impact weapon recently, for when I want to have an advantage for a "hand to hand" assault but don't want to resort to a firearm. I'm also a Corrections Officer and I never know if I might run into someone unfriendly when I'm out and about.......the ones that get released have to go somewhere and they have family and friends. I have coworkers who have been spit on at gas stations by people as they drove off, or saw ex-inmates out in public.

I sometimes carry my NAA .22 LR mini revolver as a BUG, sometimes a primary if I'm just running out for a short time. I don't feel the need to carry 4 Glocks and a .380 on my ankle to go buy milk and eggs.

I want to type something, but afraid I can't right now without coming across as insulting. Maybe later..... Acebow

There have been times when I've carried a New York reload.

At work I carry two, a 4 inch Model 686 on my duty belt with two double speedloader pouches, and an elderly Model 37 in my offside cargo pocket, a speedstrip in a front pocket, and some knives. :)

At home, I generally just carry one, the Model 37 or an equally old 3 inch Model 13 with two speedstrips in a double dump pouch. With an increased number of bolder coyotes, I carry both when I walk the turnspit dog at night. :(

Going into town, I carry both the Model 13 and Model 37 with the two speedstrips. :/

On the highway, there's no telling how many guns are in the car with us. :)

So, I guess the answer for me would be: Yes, I frequently carry more than one gun. :D

Beware of the man with 2 wallets

That's my late Father. When traveling he carried his cash and cards in a front pocket. In the rear pocket was an old bill fold with fake credit cards like you used to get in mail ads and 2 1 dollar bills sticking out so they could be easily seen. Never had to use it but he was ready.

When going back to Iowa to visit relatives he also carried a loaded 1851 Navy under the seat. Iowa frowned on out of state folks having real pistols in the car.

Someone would have been in trouble, he frog hunted with it and 99% of the time popped the frog in the head.

2 gun

I carried a handgun on my person for decades before I had a CHL and for more years than that in my car. So when I finally got a CHL I was very used to being armed. As a rule I never carried more than one gun on my person but by the same rule I continued to carry one in my car so I guess I routinely have two guns available. In the last couple of years - when I am carrying a particular, military-style shoulder bag, I've been known to put the car gun inside it and carry it with me. That puts two guns with me personally outside my car.

It's not even something I think much about. I just put it in the car/in the bag/on my person, and off I go. It's like wearing a watch......you just do it.

Sidebar - I've been carrying 2 wallets for decades, too. The business card wallet in my shirt pocket also contains my important identification and debit cards. The wallet in my back pocket contains credit cards and photos and miscellany.

As a general practice my cash is in another pocket held together by a money clip.

I know, it's probably weird..........

I read something like this..." beware of the man with but one gun, for he surely knows how to use it". I do not recall who penned this.... I carry one and a reload every day.

It's an old phrase, I'd wager more than 100 years old, and probably concerned a rifle. If you search the Internet you will not find a good answer as to its source. It is NOT a modern gun writer like Clint Smith or a recent one like Skeeter Skelton, it is not John Steinbeck, and it's not even science fiction writer Robert Heinlein. It's just OLD.

My election to carry 2 guns (I don't count the shotgun in my trunk!) is coupled with the fact that I carry two similar guns as a rule, a 642 (for years) and a 638 (a year or two). They're so much alike I don't have to think about which one I'm using, although they do sport different grips and the banana grips on the 638 render it much harder to conceal in a pocket than the Eagle checkered wooden boot-type grips I put on the 642.

Yes. My car gun does not normally work as a carry gun. For personal carry it's either a Charter Arms Bulldog or a S&W model 36 IWB. My car gun is either a Glock 19 or a Ruger Speed Six. Normally I only have one of these 4 with me but when traveling I take one of each. On my last trip to Tucson the Glock and the Bulldog went with me.

2 Guns

I daily carry a Model 38 no-Dash in a Mika in my right front pocket with a speed strip in the watch pocket, if I'm leaving the cabin I carry another either on the belt or IWB. As of late, the companion piece has been a 2" 10-5 IWB with a spare speed strip in a belt pouch. Although, with the current nonsense in Baltimore I have added a Model 59 & extra mag to the locking console of my Jeep when ever I go to town. I remove it when I get home ..... ;)

P.S. When riding the ATV into the back country I pocket carry the Model 38 and also a 66-8 in a Simply Rugged Chesty Puller Rig and leave the belt/IWB gun at home. I also always carry either a bolt gun or lever action when on the ATV ........ :D

I have. When I used to have my 3" 65 I would occasionally also carry my 642, mostly just to see if I could. It was somewhat cumbersome for me, but do-able. When I did I carried a couple of strips with .38 Special ammo so I could reload either gun if needed.

I've always liked the idea of carrying a pair of J-frames. Someday I will have to get another one and give it a try.

I keep one concealed on me in a IWB holster and one mounted in a dash board holster, I don't want to be fumbling for my concealed weapon while i'm seated in my truck but when i'm away from my truck i just carry the one.

Can one carry more than one "Pistol" as defined by WA RCW, with a
WA state CPL?

The RCW doesn't mention revolvers, just pistols.)

What about 2 or 3 guns in Idaho?

I've never heard of a limitation in our state. Doesn't mean there isn't one, but none that I've ever been informed of.

When I worked patrol I always carried a second gun. When I went to plain clothes I didn't until recently and have been carrying a model 36, inside front pants pocket. Some may say it's overboard but in this day and age I believe it is prudent.

Off duty just my Glock model 32 with a spare magazine.

I carry a primary plus a reload on my belt and a BUG in my pocket with a reload.
This is my practice 75% of the time. Either a G22 or 23 carried IWB with one reload and either a 442 or bobbed hammer M60 as a BUG with one speed strip or 2x2x2 ammo pouch on the belt at 1:00. One size larger polo shirt covers it all.

Generally speaking I only carry one concealed weapon.

There are some rare exceptions.

For example I helped a friend pick up a piece of furniture from the loading dock behind the store after dark in an urban neighborhood that was on the edge of what I'd call "safe".

He was familiar with handguns (a fellow retired Marine) but did not have a CCW permit and was not carrying a firearm. In that case, I took a PPK/S in a pocket holster in addition to my primary concealed weapon. If things had gotten interesting, I could have passed it to him in the holster, allowing him to be armed while leading the way out of trouble while I covered him in our fighting withdrawal.

I carry either this one

or that one

Never seen any need to carry both at the same time.
