Do you know what a shoe spoon looks like?

Last week a visiting Nurse came by, one I had not seen before. She looked to be in her late twenties. In the process she was looking at my swollen feet. She decided to take one shoe off and when it came time to put it on we needed a shoe spoon. I told her that one was laying on the dresser. She went into the bedroom and came back with a bewildered look and said I don't know what one looks like.
I went in and got one and with my help we got my shoe back on. She was really impressed and said I am going to find me one, I have some dress shoes that are hard to get on.
I just thought that everyone knew what a shoe spoon was.

The 31.5" long one is all metal and eliminates the need to bend down or sit down.
The redish plastic ithingy fits over the back of the shoe or sneaker and acts like a step in shoe orn then you pull on the string to remove it while standing up.When my feet were swelling up due to my not taking care of my high blood pressure I used this to get my shoes on.It sits idle now.
We don't wear shoes in the house so the spoons are for when we take to the road.

I know what they are but haven't used one since I was a kid. I'm not surprised that a lot of younger people don't since they wear shower clogs as shoes.

When you get a total hip replacement you get to buy a really long shoe spoon and it is worth every inch you pay for.

I either have one foot that is bigger than the other, or one shoe that is smaller than the other. A shoehorn is a necessity.

I remember the metal shoe horns when I was a kid; Dad always used one. He made a boot jack for up at our camp that was perfect for getting our snow/hunting boots off. Quite a handy tool there, too. From the Depression generation: Why buy one when I can make one that's probably better, and free.

They work a lot better on dress shoes than tennis shoes but they sure
beat your fingers.............

I have a 18" plastic and a metal "Palm" 4" for good days.

Like others here, I've always known them as shoehorns. Perhaps the name is a regional thing. I've never personally owned one, as my shoes have never needed horning.

I'm finding the older I get, the more I require "accessories" to help me get dressed. The 18" shoehorn sure helps with shoes because if God had wanted me to touch my feet, he would have made my arms longer, the older I get.

Have a nice wooden one somewhere, used for about month after hip replacement in 18, don't need it now.
What I'm SICK and TIRED of is the mile long shoe laces in every lace up pair of shoes. Anyone know if NORMAL LENGHT shoe laces are made now????
