Don’t know how to clear the chamber? Don’t ask this guy for help.

There's a lot of criticism here about how these idiots unloaded their guns but, technically they did "unload" them.

I can see how there would be people like this out there. I attended a 4 hour class when I got my CWP. At least half the people that attended had no idea how to operate any of the guns that we were able to examine. The first thing I'll ever do when handling a weapon is to insure that it's not loaded. A few people there were clueless on how this is done. The class did not require any practical gun handling or shooting so these folks were going out into the world with a carry permit and zero experience. Scary!!!!

Don't forget more unloaded guns have killed more citizens than loaded guns

Give that man a cigar it's a new way to clear a loaded weapon is to shoot it at your neighbors house. Who would of thunk that one up?
He can get a job at NASA or area 51 now. This is a knee slapper for sure lol.

I heard a story once about a guy who practiced shooting deer with his new rifle by dry firing it while saying bang at home. He goes hunting and sees a deer with the gun still not loaded and says bang.

Ok true story I seen this happen. Two buddies are sighting in there scoped deer rifles. He has a five bullseye targets on one paper. One in the middle and one in each corner. He's aiming at the lower right target and hitting the upper left target. It's like 28" away and 20" high than the point of aim his buddy pats him on the back telling him it's good. Scary to be in the woods with them.

A cop in my dad's precinct shot his model 10 into the toilet and shattered it...seems he never learned how to uncock it since they only taught DA at the range. Another cop cocked it and when he realized he didn't know how to uncock it, he taped up the hammer and brought it into the station for help.

Hopefully these guys were just working on the force until their movie contracts came in.:D

Ever watched an episode of Cops when they pull an unfamiliar firearm from the perp's waistband and try to clear it? It does not make pretty viewing, especially if the weapon has a heel release mag and/or no slide lock.

To be fair, it's not their weapon so one could ask why should they know, but somebody with reasonable firearms knowledge should be capable of clearing pretty much any weapon he/she encounters. I guess it's true what many LEOs here say, we don't always hire "gun people".

Worst one I saw was an officer struggling for at least two minutes to clear a Star Ultrastar. I don't know if the weapon was damaged or he was having an issue gripping the slide with his big paws. That pistol has reversed frame rails and not much slide above the horizon. My late wife, a total non-gun person, said, "He needs to put that down and let somebody else do it before he shoots himself".

Had a patrolman come to the station with a cocked .45 auto that he had retrieved from someone, and he came in the Det. Bureau and put it on my desk, or should I say threw it on my desk. He said, "here, I don't know if it's loaded, and I don't know how to check it". Safety was off also. After I yelled at him for being an idiot, I took the gun outside, removed the magazine, and then proceeded to remove a live round from the chamber.

"OK first of all your ammo is in the magazine backwards and then your magazine is in the gun backwards".

I have seen that before. Years ago I was a member at an indoor range. I had just finished shooting when a guy took the lane next to me. Being curious, I looked over to see what he was shooting.

On the bench was a new Glock 9. The guy was attempting to load the magazine with the rounds facing the wrong way. I yelled over at him that those rounds go in the mag the other way around.

The guy gave me a nasty scouring look like I had insulted his intelligence. I packed my bag and left the line. On my way out I saw one of the range officers/trainers behind the counter. I told him that it might be a good idea to keep an eye on lane 4.

Before I could finish, the RO was through the door and on the firing line. The management at that range took safety seriously.

I had a call one night in my rookie year for a shot fired in a residential neighborhood. When I got there I found a man standing outside with that "guilty" look some people get. I asked him if he just fired a gun and he admitted to it. Turns out his house was burglarized the day before so he went out and bought a Ruger Police Service Six and a box of ammo. Brought it home to show the wife, loaded it and cocked it. Then he realized he didn't know how to uncock it. Walked out into his front yard and touched off a .357 hollow point into the air. Woke the whole neighborhood up.

Over the years I’ve read many a story concerning morons with weapons. This one has to be near the top of the list.

A 31-year-old man in Pennsylvania told police that he fired a bullet that hit his neighbor’s house because he was unfamiliar with weapons and it was the only way he knew how to clear the chamber.

Cops: Man Fired Into Neighbor's Home to Unload Gun - ABC News

I was looking around on YouTube the other day and found some video on the dumbest people with gun's I have ever seen. For the most of it I was laughing so hard but I should have been terrified there are people like this out there. One clip really got me laughing, a big bad skin head with a pistol grip shotgun was dumb enough to hold the weapon close to his face when firing. Yep, he got smacked in the face and the camera follows the gun but if you watch close you will see his two front teeth fly through the frame.

I was talking to my older neighbor lady when guns came up in the conversation. She said she had a gun she kept under her pillow. She brought it out to show me. It was a "safe" and "loaded" Luger. Had 4 badly corroded rounds in the magazine and none in the chamber. She did not know how to use it. I got her some new ammo and tested the pistol. Worked just fine. Taught her how to fire it. She also had a 44-40 Lightning carbine in very nice condition. Her father had brought the guns over so she could protect herself.

Sometime later her father came and took the guns back. Yes, I tried to buy them.

I had shown her some of my guns and she wanter to buy my M51. She bugged me long enough until I sold it to her. They were being made at the time. I also taught her to fire the revolver and she liked the DA revolver better than the more complicated Luger.

One night some years later, she called me. Someone had tried to get into her sliding door early in the morning. She scared him off but had cocked the hammer and couldnt remember how to uncock it. I took her out to the range and she relearned to fire the revolver. Said she would never cock it again.

Human beings are the dumbest people I know. Why can't they not play with things they don't understand and seek help?

When working in Kuwait leading up to The Mother of All Battles Part II, we had to take familiarization with the M9. I had to teach the Army captain next to me how to load it. I didn't think it was possible to get that far in the Army without knowing at least that.

My bro in law

Lord, even I'm not that paranoid. :D

There is plenty of real, unfeigned idiocy and ignorance about guns out there to cause incidents like this. I've seen and heard unbelievable things along those lines, no conspiracy needed.

Ever meet a "sound hunter"? Or a guy who puts a bullet through two walls (including his child's bedroom) "dry firing" a gun? I have. There are enough cretins around to make us look bad, without anyone having to fake a damn thing.

My bro in law, wife and two small kids moved into an apartment complex that had a guy that always sat in the door, cleaning his gun with this grin on his face that told me he loved showing off that he had a gun. As soon as I saw him I thought, "That guy is trouble". Took a few months, but he let off a shot that went through the exterior wall of my BILs apartment and at least one (that I remember) maybe two interior partitions. In this case, nobody was hit.

Ii don't believe.....

To be honest, you can learn how to safely decock a revolver from watching Danny Glover block the hammer with his thumb in the first Lethal Weapon film!

I was never told how to do this, I just did it like the western guys on TV. I knew three important things......

If you just pull the trigger the hammer will fall and fire the round.

You can't push the hammer back down, but to make it fall, you need to pull the trigger.

Ah, hold the hammer with your thumb, pull the trigger just enough to unlock the hammer and gently let the hammer down while taking your finger off the trigger.

But then, I'm a certified genius.

:D:D:D

PS I know a kid that is a whiz with electronics, but I honestly think he doesn't know which end of a screwdriver to hold. Yes, really that bad. If he sees a part that he doesn't understand the function of, he breaks it off because it's just in the way.

I knew a woman who's alarm went off at 3am,jumped up half awake and cocked her model 15.The alarm was just the wind so she called her boyfriend about the gun.He told her to put it up on the credenza and he'd come by for breakfast [emoji1].They eventually broke up [emoji23]
