I was competing against me again and was shooting about 3" low. My favorite reload, one hole groups always, but not today. I thought maybe my sights moved or guns wearing out. I got home very upset, then loaded a snapcap in the chamber of my 45 and started to dry fire and sure enough I was pulling them all down. After dry firing for awhile I started to keep from flinching and was able to keep the gun steady. Never had this happen before where I could just not hit where I was aiming. Went out today and was able to correct my meager performance from the day before. Maybe I better dry fire before I hit the range, is this a normal thing, dry firing, before most of you guys compete? I think it will have to be for me.

When I shot NRA High Power Rifle Matches dry fire at home was part of my practice routine.
I have done it with handguns too from time to time.
Expect to do some more after deer season ends.
