Was at the VA yesterday getting my eyes checked (glaucoma) and was waiting to be called for the exam when a young lady who was cleaning up the waiting area grabbed up a magazine I had been looking at and tossed into her trash cart. When I asked her why she said that they were instructed to remove anything that had guns in it.Even the VA thinks veterans all have PTSD and are dangerous I guess. I would never admit to any mental problems to an organization that thinks that way no matter how much I needed help. No wonder the suicide numbers for vets is high. This at a facility that is a small clinic with armed guards at all times. Wish I knew how ,or who to complain to about this kind of attitude. Sorry for my attitude, this really burns me.

That may be a local option. I have been going to our local VAMC for
twenty years, and almost always pick up a gun magazine to read while
i'm waiting. Or perhaps it's a recent directive that I haven't been aware
of yet.

On several occasions I have clipped the address labels from gun magazines and left them on the table at the doctor's office. I'm sure they don't last more than a day before being tossed out. I hate golf and sail boating magazines.

Golf does nothing for me, but sailing, I'm all over that because I did some in my youth.

I'm on the side that believes your entire medical record is a security hole. Telling your doctor drinking or smoking habits even if 60 years ago is the same as disqualifying yourself for insurance or doubling the price.

Your medical record has been copied by dozens and shared by unknown numbers. The Justice department recently included DNA results in that same security hole for all employees. The VA sent records on all veterans who have other people handling their financial records to the NICS check folks and disqualified them. I think the VA's feelings are fairly clear about guns.

All members of the AMA get the same indoctrination about firearms. They are red flag enabled.

There isn't a SOP for this behavior I don't believe. Each of the VA centers I've been to seem to run as dictated by the medical center's director. If that individual is a left wing liberal, well you get the picture. The variance can be day and night between centers. I don't condone the janitorial staff doing this yet those I've seen working there are definitely not rocket scientists either.

Vonn I just got an opinion survey yesterday from a 3rd party hired by the VA to perform patient care analysis. I use to hold back for fear of retribution even though they clearly articulate it is anonymous. I'll be sure to include your input in my rant.
