Favorite Breakfast?

My favorite is eggs, over medium, I like the whites with a little brown on them, especially with a lacy edge. Thick bacon, chewy, not crispy, hash browns, toast or biscuits, home made blackberry jelly or gravy, a little OJ and a big glass of milk. I don't eat this way but about once a season. It makes me want to go back to bed.

The only diff tween yours and mine-is my bacon is crisp-though the chewy version will do in a pinch. :D

FAVORITE - Omelet stuffed with American cheese, sausage, and mushrooms, home fries, little ketchup on the side, English muffin, toasted, with strawberry jam and butter, and a big glass of chocolate milk....:)

REALITY - In the interest of staying below the weight of your average grizzly bear, and maybe living another couple decades - A bowl of Special K cereal with strawberries and a sliced up banana, with 2% milk...

Larry

Leave out the mushrooms since im allergic to em, and ill help you eat the food. :D

Man, I NEED a Calzone!

South Carolina "low country" pork liver pudding with plenty of rice in it. Fried squirrel quarters in gravy served over grits and a bloody mary or 3!

My own invention - one or two pieces of toast with two over-medium fried eggs on top, then about 1/2 cup of rinsed black beans (from a can, I nuke the beans so they aren't cold), several small dollops of pesto sauce on top of that, then a drizzling of an odd-ball hot sauce I get in Vermont that's kind of like a hot mango sauce, it's called 5th Sun hot sauce, but something else aught to work too. But it's the pesto and black beans that makes it, it doesn't look real pretty but man is it good! If you like pesto you'll like this.

Heck, I'd eat any of these. I guess my favorite is Huevos Rancheros fried potatoes and chewy thick cut bacon. Wash it down with a spicy Bloody Mary.

For me, it's hard to beat Eggs Benedict. Unfortunately, I don't get to enjoy it all that often - making the hollandaise sauce is a real art. Here's a pic of my ideal breakfast as served at the century-old Copper Queen hotel in Bisbee, Arizona! A dash of Tabasco sauce gives it just a tad more "oomph" for Southwestern tastes.

^^+^^ You & me both, John.

My wife's home made eggs Benedict and her wonderful home made hollandaise sauce.

Military SOS, creamed chip beef on toast. Half of the chow hall would skip breakfast when they served it but I would ask for every compartment on my metal tray to be filled with this tasty treat.

I miss Air Force SOS in a big way. Boy they made it good, and to have it on top of toast and hash browns and a cheese omelet on the side was heaven. We could get away with eating like that in our early 20's, today I'd get fat as a pig if I ate like that.

I love breakfast food. Seldom have it in the morning however, mostly at night. If I eat out at a Huddle House or Waffle House,I get the same thing every time. Two eggs over light, hash browns (scattered, smothered and covered),a double order of sausage, a hubcap full of grits, toast and a LARGE glass of milk. The local Shoney's has a buffet breakfast bar on Thursday nights,so we occasionally hit it,mainly because my D-I-L and my grandkids love it. Damn! I'm hungry now.

Breakfast should be your biggest meal of the day. Then lunch is next. For supper it's very little, I'm not hungry.

Sausage, eggs, hash browns, salsa. Coffee with half and half.
Or, a New Mexico style smothered burrito.

Was AMAZED a few years back when I traveled with friends to deer hunt the week of Thanksgiving in Wisconsin.
Do you know that these people don't have BISCUITS??

Go into a diner (that has a 'foyer' to keep out snow drifts...) and with a decent breakfast you are offered toast, English Muffins, or a bagel??
And of course, no grits. And all the people were either pasty-white or ruddy-complected.
What a strange place.

Since breakfast is my favorite meal and I wake up hungry I'm going to cheat and name 3 favorites for different situations.

Home: my wife every other week or so makes pancakes just like I like them, very thin, almost like crepes. Butter, syrup, sliced strawberries on top, black coffee and orange juice.

Deer camp: one breakfast is always liver pudding gravy over hominy with homemade bread, black coffee, orange juice.

Diner: Two eggs over light, grits, toast, homefries and onions, black coffee, orange juice.

Sometime try using fruit yogurt--peach, blueberry, strawberry, raspberry and orange are delicious--instead of syrup on pancakes or waffles.

Chilaquiles con cecina, with green chile and a couple of basted eggs.

Unless I am at Mickey's Dining Car in saint Paul. Then it's a bowl of navy bean soup, two poached eggs and an English muffin.

One boiled egg cut in half with salt and pepper, a slice of Swiss cheese, two pieces of Boar's Head bacon and a piece of rye bread (seeded) toast with raspberry jam. A small glass of cranberry juice as a chaser.

Works for me until lunch.
