First Experience with a Boresnake - Questions

I wonder how much compressed air it would take to blow a broke boresnake thru the bore?

My shop compressor only goes to 130lb or so... but I generally have a tank or two of scuba air on hand.

Lets hope I never have to find out!

I will never use a snake again. They seem just too harsh on the barrel, and also seems like they could hold crud from the last cleaning. I have had to wrap the thing around my hand regardless of the caliber.

Using a rod and patch just seems much smoother and more "professional".

A whole lot more than 130 pounds.

Your logic about the harshness escapes me. The barrel is thousands of times harder than anything in the snake. It's no harsher than a brush and rod.

Crud? The snake can be washed, if there's any such indication. Never run across the problem enough to matter. As for "professional" ... That's funny.

To each his own.

I put some of the liquid froglube at the tip boresnake and a few places along the boresnake and it helps me pull it thru smoothly
