Fairly new to the forum and just picked up my first firearm. It is a SW9VE,allied forces version. I know it is considered the unwanted step child of handguns, but feels great in my hand and it was affordable.

Can't wait to get it to the range.

As long as it works in your hand you have a good gun. If a gun isn't comfortable and doesn't aim properly in you hands, it isn't worth anything to you. Have fun your new gun.

Congrats Jeff. I bought an Allied Forces 9mm about a month ago & am very very happy w/it. This is my first pistol, and I've been at the range every weekend & have put approx. 1000 rounds through mine.

IMO Sigma's get a bad rap, but mine has shot everything I've fed it, and is a better shooter than I am.

What's more, w/the range practice & some dry firing w/snap caps, the trigger pull has lightened nicely.

Happy shooting!

I just bought 2 S&W hand guns one was a 9mmVE, I've only shot it once and put about 60 rounds through it without any problems...from what i've read most problems with this type weapon were in the early ver. The VE is like 3rd generation and they say they have fixed all the kinks...Mine shot perfectly fine and is fun to shoot can't wait to shoot some more...Have Fun!

Enjoy your sigma! I have the 40VE, not a problem, shoots everything. It handles great, feels good, great gun. I found that using the second joint in my trigger finger makes for a more controlled pull, try it, works for me. Cheers

Not the unwanted step-child at all, but a great gun for the money. And the Allied Forces model looks better than the two-tone VE. Did you buy the Allied Forces Sigma new? I haven't seen the AF models around Connecticut new for about a year.

Don't worry Jeff!
You should see a few I've stuck myself with over the years! If that's your first, I already KNOW I've chosen far worse than you!
WELCOME!

Hi Jeff congrats and welcome to the forum. If it feels good in your hand and you shoot well with it than it was a great buy for you.Being the price is good even better. With additional shooting the trigger will smooth out nicely too..God Bless........Mike

I agree with you that the allied forces looks better. I did buy it new, but not in CT. I went to Hoffman's and Cabela's but they didn't have it and I didn't want to wait for them to special order it as I would have missed out on the rebate. I wound up buying it using "buy it now" at a Gunbroker auction.

The 9VE was also my first pistol. I ended up giving that one to my husband as it was too big for me to conceal, but I still love to shoot it and it's performed flawlessly. Probably have 2,000 rounds through it so far without so much as a hiccup. I hope you enjoy yours.

I have never tried nor held a Sigma, but the ergonomics look similar to the Steyr MA1 series that I have. Steyrs are incredibly polymer pistols that are very underrated and too bad they seem not being imported anymore.

After some more range time you will like your S&W more and more I imagine as I have. They always put a smile on my face

btw, the Steyr was my first pistol I ever owned.

Welcome to the forum. The Sigma is no vault queen, but hardly the unwanted step child! A bunch were sent to the Afghan military, and I the ones that I fired were good pistols and did the job with good groups on silhouette targets. I am looking to buy the green version. Take care of it and enjoy it.

I have a SW40F (yea, the bastid child), but I don't have any trouble with it.
Bought it used and cheap (from http://www.summitgunbroker.com/), trigger is ok, makes a LOTTA noise when I pull it (that's a good thing, BTW

My brother has a Steyr M in 40, also real nice. Got his through CDNN when the last catalog came out for less than $350, IIRC. I believe they are gone or MUCH higher now.
