Wow! This thing is awesome. It is definitely STOUT, to say the least. But very manageable. I shot 10 rounds of Magtech 325, and 20 rounds of Doubletap 275. I have some Buffalo Bore on the way. What about the wave of warm air that blast back after each round :D? I had read a lot about this round and did not really know what to expect, but it is a keeper, and it will get some some duty time when I go to Alaska next year. But for now it will be a fun range gun, to start conversations with;).

congratulations, but please dont bring that cannon over to my range on the east coast. i was in the lane next to a guy that had one of those and i had to leave the firing line until he was finished. could not imagine being on the receiving end of that sucker!

These are awesome guns. I have the 8 3/8 barrel and yeah, it draws a crowd.
Enjoy, I use Hornady 350gr XTP in front of 21gr of long shot powder. Easy on the wrist and chrono'd @ 1245 fps.

if I was going into big bear country like you are, I'd opt for a S&W .460 with a barrel & compensator length of no more than 5" total.......and get S&W to install a lanyard loop too.............There are just so many extremely good .45 bullets that are available compared to the so very few & even more expensive .500 bullets being the major consideration/factor.

That being said, I know 2 gents with S&W .500's, both love em & on the first few range sessions they advise folks to limit their shooting of full house loads to 20-25 or so tops.......so as to avoid developing a major flinch.......Congrats hand......... & remember to NEVER take off that .500 in big bear country.............sooner or later a guy has to put down his rifle or slug loaded shotgun for a call of nature or to eat....... with a good comfortable shoulder rig, you'll never have to put it down.......
