Found a 649-3 on Gunbroker!

That's not fair, I just got here! Now, with that being said, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

You were lucky to find one, they are going up in price fast. The "pre-lock" is what gets the purists, for me the lock is a non issue. It's just beautiful to look at, and a bad little gun to boot.

I came across one in December of 2014, local to me and snapped it up for a cool (are you ready) $375.00 It is (was) little used:cool: and needed a good cleaning but it's up to snuff now and the DA trigger pull is pretty smooth compared to my 638-3.

It is now my favorite revo for carry, but NOT MUCH FUN AT THE RANGE!!!

Wow guys, 66 views, not a single congrats, or nice find, or good luck with it, hope it works out for you, or I sure like mine....jeez...

I'm somewhat disappointed for you regarding the condition yours is in. I hope it works out for you one way or another.

I bought my 649-3 new around '1997 and have lived with and loved this gun ever since. My inspiration for buying it was my Model 49 which I still have. I've carried my 649 more than any other gun I've owned. It is remarkably accurate and really quite decent to shoot even in .357. The guns weight and stocks do a great job in handling recoil. The Uncle Mikes stocks that came OEM are in my opinion the best J frame stocks I've ever had in my hands. I love wood but the U. Mike's are just too comfortable and perfect fitting (for me) to consider change. Actually, I ought to buy a back up set in case something happens to them.

What's interesting to me is how anyone can cosmetically mess up one of these. I guess I'm just old school. You buy a gun and you take care of it. If you pocket carry you don't have a bunch of keys and change in the same pocket. You're vigilent about how and where you put it down and you lovingly clean it after you shoot it. Dang, what's so hard about that. I wish I had a pic to post to show you that after about 18 year it still looks and shoots like new. If this one does not work out for you look for another, the 649 is fantastic! Sorry for the long reply, I just feel very strongly about the 649.

I'm editing this to add a not so good pic of my 649-3 with the OEM Unicle Mike's stocks.

Have a 649-3 357 Stainless I purchase back in 1997 (Pre-Lock). Ran about 500 rounds through it (38, +P, 357) over the years. Kept the gun in "Bristol" condition. Wife doesn't want it (a bit heavy) so I think time to sell and get her something lighter. Anyone have a feel for what I should ask for it?

What's "Bristol"? Do you have box and papers? Which grips? Able to PM me pics? I just spent to much money for the one I got, especially in the condition it's in. That said I really like it and would have been happy to give the same money for one in better condition (and may still). I personally won't purchase a used (or new) revolver again without pics from the front showing barrel clocking and both sides under the grips. Live and learn.

Stay safe, John

By the way, welcome to the forum!

All these 49/649 posts keep popping up and giving me the urge to get one. I traded off my 49 and miss the little hump backed bugger. I'm sorry yours isn't what you were expecting condition wise.

IF, and that's a big IF, I decided to sell mine. it would have to be at $600.00 or better in my mind.

That may not be the market, by you, or AT ALL. A lot of purists, love the pre lock, and if you have all the original stuff with it, that would be a bonus.

Keep in mind, I'm NOT setting a price. That is what it would take to get mine.

What is "Bristol"?
