Got my NIB FS9 about 3 weeks ago and finslly got to the range last weekend. While shooting the 2d mag i noticed the goroups moving and finally looked at the front sight and it had vibrated all the way left. 2d I noticed that everytime i conduct a live mag change the slide would go forward, without me activating the slide release or grabbing the slide. Anyone else having these issues?

Also I contacted SW on Monday to return the gun and just got the email label today, and i guess you cant send a gun from very FEDEX facility. I only listed the sights as a problem on the ticket but should I have them look at the entire good for issues? Any advice on shipping the entire gun vs just the slide? never had to send any of my other pistols( SIG,COLT, HK) back before.

FWIW my Oct 13 build 9FS does auto forward sometimes. Seems to happen more when I add some enthusiasm seating the magazine. I don't see it as an issue.

Regarding the front sight, do you mean it is moving relative to the slide as in left or right? That does not sound right for sure. Mine never moved, and my replacement Trijicon HDs have not moved either.

UPS it overnight...

Why is the slide going forward when you insert a mag considered an issue? What other action were you planning to do instead of releasing the slide? (I just wish I could get mine to do it 100% of the time, presently it's about 95%, must be something to do with my technique).

Follow S&W's shipping instructions for Fed ex. They're restricted as to what facilities you can use. I can't recall right off which ones. I'd use their dime to ship it.

The auto forward is not an issue and Glocks do it too.

My only issue with the 9 has been accuracy at 25 yards. I had one barrel replaced already and still not impressed.

The three M&P's I have all auto forward as does one of M&P AR's. I always know where the muzzle is pointed and my finger off the trigger, so I don't worry about it.

It really needs to do one or the other 100% of the time so that you can train accordingly. Adding another decision point to the reload ("do I need to rack the slide?") is not good.

Someone mentioned that Glocks do it too. I've been shooting Glocks since 1998, have owned a dozen or so, and none of them have done this. I'm sure it's happened to someone out there shooting Glocks but I've never seen it happen.

I would send the whole gun, that way they can check your complete gun for anything else. I sent my gun in for one thing, and they found an additional item that they felt needed replacing.

As for FedEx, you should be able to call their 800 number to have them come to your location to pick up the gun.

I have owned 2 Steyr's. Similar to a Glock, rumor has it, same designer. They both do it. It was a surprise the first time it happened, since my 1911's never did it. But you get used to it. In competition it is an advantage during reloads.

Hey guys thanks a lot for all the advice.....would have responded sooner but we just got a new bass pro locally so I had to go thoroughly check them out..lol

The sight progressively slide to the left the more rounds I shot. it would appear the dovetail is cut too wide for the sight. No issues with the rear.

As for the auto forward its really not that big of a deal and it really is a tactical advantage. i guess i was just concerned that it might just be a flaw in MY gun but i see almost all of them do it....My wife's .40 shield, my 226r nor any of my 1911s do it so it caught me off guard a little.

I got the FEDEX label and the box ready to go and I am going to have them come pick it from me. i think I am going to send the entire gun instead of just the slide, so they can go over it.

Thanks again.
