When I was a freshman at Clemson University 49 years ago,English 101 professors would FAIL your paper if you mis-spelled ONE word OR had TWO punctuation errors in your composition (typically 500 words,or more). I guess that it has kind of carried over. I must confess that grossly-poor grammar and spelling tends to detract from a post no matter the content. That's just me. Sorry.
On the other hand, colloquial dialects used by some of our Western and Southern members,I find enjoyable, but NOT when attempted by members from other areas who have no idea how to go about replicating it. 'T'ain't becomin'!

My daughter is a remedial English teacher at a small two-year college.
She is chairing a search committee to select a teacher for a position that opened.
She has to screen thirty-some resumes to narrow down to six for phone interviews,
then narrow to three for on-site visits and interviews.
Guess what happens to a resume when she encounters a misspelled word or an error in grammar or usage?
