Got new Sigma SW9VE

Clean it, polish the feed ramp, lube it, use quality ammunition, and shoot it again...

The malf's happened within the first 60 rounds and the next 75 were fine. Next time I go to the range I'll keep tabs on what doesn't fire if anything. This was my first time firing a gun in about 30 years and I was like a 12 year old with his first bolt action 22! ;-)

I second that motion.. Also make sure you don't
"limp wrist" when firing.. That can cause eject/
feed problems due to the slide not functioning
right. I'd clean it real good, and go buy some
fresh ammo and see what it does.
For just plinking, I use the win white box or
the blazer brass, and have had zero problems so
far.

They are all the same. The first "F" model
Sigmas actually had the best triggers..
Mine is a VE with the stiffer trigger.
I just live with it. It doesn't bother all that
much. You get used to it.. I've never tried to
change anything as far as springs, etc.
I actually like the extra safety from the
stiffer trigger if carrying with a round in
the chamber. I don't really want a "target" trigger
with no external safety...

That's a true statement, my Sigma 9F has a much better trigger than either the 9VE (I sold) or the 40VE I just bought. The 9F is butt ugly, but is much more capable of grouping shots. The Sigma VE series has its drawbacks, accuracy being the most important, but the VE series may be the best Hi-Cap for the money ever marketed for the price. Shoot, I bought a new 9VE last spring for $299 with 4 mags, just bought a mint 40VE Allied Forces model used for $200- all this after having purchased a 9F with two 17(!) round mags for $150. I've fired and owned many handguns, and I believe the accuracy problem with the Sigma VE is the unreasonable 89lb. trigger pull. After a few thousand rounds through my 9VE, the trigger never "smoothed out" or became as crisp as the 9F or the other semiautos I own or have owned. But it would get the job done if called upon, case closed.

Whats the difference in the "Allied Forces" model and a regular 9VE?

Last week at the gun show I saw new sigmas for 299.00 plus a 50.00 rebate from S&W.. So, new Sigma's with 2 hicap mags for 249.00 Cant beat that with a stick!

Wow,
I'm going to look at and shoot a Sigma compact 9mm. One of the other posters mentioned they bought it for under $300! Is that what you paid? I have a S&W M&P 45 and it is my best semi auto. I held a S&W M&P 9mm compact a few days ago at my gun range, it is almost half the size and weight of my 45 M&P and I thought it would be an easy cary pistol. The price was $528 and thought that was fair as I can get a couple extra mags or $50 back. I trust my M&P 45 with out question and discovering they put out a 9mm compact that is the same pistol just smaller and still had the three different back straps to fit the hand I thought I found the best easy carry available.

I look forward to hearing from you after you shoot the sigma.

Color...the "allied forces" being matte black vs. two-tone. Only difference.

Thanks "conn ak" for the AF info! That's what I figured.. I just asked the same question in another tread. DOH!

Will, your probably not gonna like the sigma trigger if you have an M&P.. I shot my buddies M&P the other day and the trigger feels like it's about half the lbs of pull as my Sigma.. But if you have DA revolvers, and can get used to the harder trigger pull, there's nothing to dislike about a SW9VE!!

And DixieGirl is correct, they dont make a compact Sigma.. There all full frame unless theres a special order version Im not aware of?...

The first gen Sigmas had a 4.5" bbl. The "compact" versions of those pistols had a 4" bbl. Buying a holster for a Sigma you may run across the Sigma compact nomenclature for a holster that fits the enhanced Sigmas.
