Gun detection by computer assisted Radar scanning

The annual Antique Arms show is to be at the Westgate in January so this will be interesting to see how the hotel/casino handles people bring guns into the show.
Supposed to not be fully working until later in the spring.

What do they do if they find a gun on you? Have they thought that far ahead? Are they willing to lose money when a legally armed guest turns around and goes to another hotel?

Bad guys will find another way to get their gun inside.

It's private property, not sure a search for weapons is an invasion of privacy. Unless the business is not posted, from what I have heard that carry in Vegas Casinos is legal where not posted.

That would be correct. If a casino does not want you to carry a weapon inside then they really have to tell you that somehow before you go inside. You cannot be trespassing if they property owner has not posted a "no guns" sign.

On the other hand, if the property owner "observes" your weapon, and the PATSCAN will do that, the property owner is within his rights to ask you to leave or disarm. Private property is ALWAYS controlled by the owner or the agents of the owner. You don't have a right to keep and bear arms on someone else's property. Once you are asked to leave or disarm your refusal would make you a trespasser and subject you to whatever the authorities want to subject you to - but the gun carrying would never be unlawful per se in any event.

A friend of mine was in Las Vegas about two months ago. He called in advance to the hotel he planned to stay at. They didn't care and didn't check him or his suitcases when he arrived.

They're not going to loose that much money. People come from all over the country and all over the world. In 2013 it was found that Vegas cosinos made an avg of $72 million during the fiscal year, 5 billion all together... $630,000 a day per casino. The gun owner who happens to be carrying isn't even a drop in the bucket.

A dumb questions if you don't mind.

I have read that New York City scans pedestrians for knives from a distance. Is this scanner different from New York's equipment?

There is also the question of drawing the line between pocket knives that until recently no one thought of as weapons and modern tactical flicky dickys. Unfortunately bureaucratic systems gravitate towards whatever rule eliminates any need for a brain.

Many hotels are changing policies to require a someone to enter the room daily regardless of do not disturb and the rental agreements are changing as well. Weapons won't be allowed in hotels in many places...

Scanning like this will get cheaper and common in many venues.
