"Ten bowling pins are dead and two are seriously wounded in a shootout that lasted for three straight hours. Authorities estimate that over 400 shots were fired as four heavily armed gunmen opened fire on a family of innocent bowling pins.":D

Seriously though, I don't think I have ever had so much fun with a firearm in all my life.

I taught my wife (as well as a friend's wife) grip, stance, and trigger control, and the results were spectacular! They were dropping pins like crazy, and having a ball.

I even improved my rusty skills and began dropping pins with rapid fire.

I even tried the dual-pistol gig again, alternating between left and right, as fast as I could cock and aim. I ended up with 9 hits out of 12 shots.

All of our shooting was with our $140 Model 10s.

God Bless you S&W....

Is there a nicer shooting gun out there??? Not for THAT price. Heck, I have plenty of $$ left for ammo. Once we get a few thousand rounds of empty brass, the reloading shall commence.

Does anyone have a good recipe for reloads?? I'd like to stick with 158 grain lead round-nose. Which brand of powder (and how many grains) and which primers will replicate the factory loads' performance??

Wish I could help you on the reloads but I can't. Those $140 model 10's are great. Glad to hear a good time was had.

Pick up a reloading manual. Every one I have ever seen has a great selection of loads on the 38 special. As far as powder, I like Win 231 myself.

Wait a minute!!! Where are these $140 Model 10's??? Am I missing something here! For that price, I'd buy 4 or 5 of them.

There is a thread about them in the lounge. They are old police trade ins. They have alot of holster wear but are mechanicly sound. Everyone that has bought one has liked them so far. He is supposed to be getting some more in in the next week or so.

I DID buy 5 of them....AND I've got my name in for 6 more. We're thinking about starting up a little shooting club, and these model 10s will be our range guns.

I did find a wonderful site with tons of reload information:
Handloads.Com Load Data - Handloads.Com

Here's the thread for the $140 model 10s: http://smith-wessonforum.com/lounge/94874-model-10s-140-4-a.html

I love pin shooting, we shoot every Thursday night at our local range. This week I used my newly acquired M&P40 to do some serious pin killin'. ;)

Those pins had it comeing, they always were trouble makers! Sounds like a great time and useing ten's even better! A nice load is 4.0gr of Unique under that 158 LRN. Thats my standard range load and shoots very well out of just about everything. Nice and mild and dosent overwork your gun.

Sounds like great fun! .... but, where are the pictures?

Jerry

We took the camera, but once the shooting started everyone forgot all about it.

We went shooting again yesterday, and forgot AGAIN.

Sorry.

JJ,
Where do you go to shoot around Seaside?
Best,
Gary

I have a friend with some acreage near Warrenton, and another friend with a place to shoot just south of Seaside. The State forestry land in Hamlet (10 miles from Seaside) is always an option as well. If you're going to be in the area, drop me a PM and we can meet up for a little plinking.

A spokesman for the bowling pin victms made a statement today, "They were just about to turn their lives around!".

Here's mine and it's target. I'm not that good of a shot, this was only fifteen yards or so, but I believe this gun would do just fine when things go bump in the night. It even shoots great with N-frame grips ground down to fit, then sanded and stained.

I have watched people shoot pins a couple of times and the pins were placed 3 ft. from the edge of the table and had to be knocked off to be a hit. What rules do you use? Larry

Rules??? We don't need no stinkin' RULES!

Seriously though, we screwed an 8-foot 2X12 to 2 log rounds (kinda looks like a bench) and had at it. we usually start out with 5 pins, with 6 shots to knock 'em down.......Eventually, it leads to 12 pins and a gun in each hand......

I enjoy two-gunning SO much, probably because I've fantasized about it since I was a little kid. I've always had guns, but this is the first time I've ever had TWO identical revolvers at the same time. I'm improving, and hope to be able to knock down all 12 pins without a miss.

The 1000 rounds of ammo that the UPS man just dropped off probably won't last very long.......:(
