Has any one used copper to alloy with

The results are in I set up the chrono had the target @ 15 yards. I decided for proof of concept I would just go for broke. for the 357mag I used 125gr RF and it hit 1990 with 22.2 gr of 300-MP accuracy was spot on grouping of 1 in to 1.5in with no leading. Now I have to say I am impressed with the results wow. As for the 45 I used a 200gr TC and hit 1146 with 8.7gr of BE-86 and again same grouping with accuracy and no leading. The only thing I regret was not having a video cam recording the test. But for the next test I will definitely have a camera going. And as am going to test the rifle loads I think I am going to test some of the more popular pistol calibers again. So there it is thoughts comments

powder coating ... its beautiful.:D
now migrate to a rifle and see how high you can take your alloy and coat.
no sleep till 3K:D

You guys have certainly peaked my interest in coating.
I am shooting cast in the 444 which likes .432 bullets and can go over Mach 2.
The larger (280 and up) gas checks work fine but I have never shot
a cast 240 and this would be a nice way to make them fatter and stronger without a GC.
Many have bevel bases anyway.
Thanks for the education.

I'm using wheel weights and alox with gas checks. I size then lube no leading I've ever noticed and I clean my gins after each range trip

That is the same mix of alloy I tried over the weekend with coated 357 and they worked great with no leading. I didn't use lube or any checks, I was able to recover one of them and the coating had held up much like a jacked round. I think that the babbit mix resembles #2 in a lot of ways. the batch that I tested had a BHN of 16

Not too bad .... try it in a rifle ;)

I am planning on it but the problem I am having is figuring out how I am going to capture the bullet. Since this is going to be a task with an 06. Honestly I wouldn't be worried about if I hadn't see the results from the 357 now I just gota know. Any ideas

I used to have a twin 15 inch speaker cabinet that I stuffed with old clothes and saturated with water. It caught everything
This was only defeated by a 50 BMG which unpacked and disassembled the cabinet in dramatic fashion.
Figure 24 x 24 x 32 long and it'll serve you well, short of a 50 of course.

I would imagine it did and if it didn't I would have to say something is wrong. Thanks I will have to try that.

worked great and let me recover most of my lead.
In retrospect, I'd have rebuilt it out of plastic.
most woods do that ashes to ashes and dust to dust thing faster than you'd think when you have cloth holding water against it.
top can be open, which lets mother nature keep it moist, and keep some drainage holes in the bottom.
Front target area ... keep it cheap

Find someone with a swimming pool they haven't drained yet for the winter.
Gotta have a deep end though.
