I can only remember a couple times seeing open carry, both while I served as a city Police Officer. One was a small (appeared to be a J Frame) revolver a middle aged man riding a bicycle (wearing spandex, helmet, etc.) had on his belt and the other was a small auto worn by a younger man walking with his wife on a warm evening in his neighborhood. I doubt most people would have even noticed.

You might could say I open carry.

closest in the wild was a muscle guy wearing a long T-shirt that had to be painted on, tucked over his plastic fantastic... redefined printing for me.. and everyone else in the LGS.. generated snickers amongst the patrons.. truly a sad insecure gentleman.. apologies if it was you.

Like this?

I only do it in the Boonies.
And even there I’ll often opt for pocket carry.
Yes I have seen it at Walmart!

I've seen it, usually some guy coming into town from a ranch or a cabin, carrying a semiauto on his hip. I've done the same on rare ocassions, coming into town after a day in the woods. Nothing to get alarmed over in this part of the world. I normally carry concealed, but there are exceptions.

I see open carry every time I go to town, but our sheriffs department's deputies are all plain clothes and they blend in with the locals. It's ignored by everyone. The silliest case was right after Texas allowed open carry, I saw this mid-twenties something wearing a "cowboy" gun with mid-thigh drop holster. Looked like he was ready for old west shoot-em-up.

Two incidents come to mind: 1) Over 40 years ago in Wyoming when CCW was at the local sheriff's option and harder to get in some areas than others, but open carry was legal and common in rural areas. One local merchant commonly strapped on a SAA in .38-40 in a buscadero holster and walked his receipts to the bank drop each night. Tourists (mostly) would call in a "man with a gun" complaint about once a month. The dispatcher handled them. 2) Just after Michigan authorized open carry a few years ago I spotted a young fellow in a farm market with his lady and two little ones. He had a 1911 in condition one in a nice leather OWB slide holster and matching double mag pouch on the off side. I wanted to ask him "When's the drug raid?" but I am more restrained in my old age (that sound is Mrs. Buford laughing in the background).

As far as I can recall, I've only seen two people open carrying. One was a woman -- in a Waffle House......

Since SC has gone OC I haven't seen it but I have seen more " no Concealed Carry " signs up since then. I no longer shop at these.

I have OC'd few times but only at the gas pump on the way to the hunt property.

Twice in the last 3 years. The first time it was a guy filling a coke machine outside of Walmart. The second time a couple of months ago, a Favor delivery guy bringing me my groceries.

Texas has been open carry for awhile, yet I have not seen anyone anywhere doing it in public who wasn’t some cop or security guard.
