Help determining value of a 29-2

No, I got my Dad to get me my first Garand through the CMP. I remember distinctly. But as soon as we got it I qualified and started buying Garands, M1917's, 03's, 03A3's, and M1 Carbines every year! Stopped about seven years ago. Ran out of room.

If you are active/retired military or LEO, the approved organization is not required, just provide proof of such.

I believe the ship by FedEx, referred to as BWT (big white truck). It has been 20 years since I got my last one from them.

Edit:
EricR is correct, LEO or military for marksmanship. I belong to GCA. The annual fee is minimal and you get a great magazine with a wealth of information for the Garand.

not LEO or military here, i have been poking at the list of approved places for it. we will see.

I placed it up for sale/trade a couple trade offers I was not interested in, as i am specifically looking for an M1, have a cash offer as well, Its a good offer, but I am holding out for the M1. i have a meeting scheduled thursday with someone to look at it, he said he wants to feel the lock up. I don't know how to check that, but I don't see any reason why it would bad

I've plunged deep into the world of Carbines and Garands. The prices are going up every month. A decent service grade CMP with a re-stock is now at least 1200-1400. Crappy ones are for sale for more than that at local shops. If you can swing a trade straight up you're doing good.

I'm no expert but I bet there should be some Youtube videos to help with checking lockup and whatnot on a revolver. Check it out beforehand so you know if the potential buyer is overstating any conditional issue to try to bring the price down. Best wishes in your quest.

I have been googling! I found a video from brownells that shows a good way to look at all aspects of a Smith revolver including lock up

To check lockup, make sure gun is not loaded, cock hammer, pull trigger and keep trigger pulled (you can lower hammer with your thumb if you'd prefer). With other hand, see how much rotational movement you can feel in the cylinder. With perfect lockup, the cylinder will not move at all. Some movement is fine - most S&W's will have some movement. A lot of movement indicates worn parts.

well it sold today, I was more hoping for a trade, but after I checked the lock just like stated above, small amount of movement. He checked it and said same thing.

I put it up locally for $1100 or trade for field grade M1 garand.

ended up with $1000 for it, so overall good deal i feel, now i have to track an M1 down

Thank you.

I just happen to have a M686 sitting next to me and checked it.

First time for me.
