Wondering if someone can help identify this flintlock muzzle loader pistol. It has several markings with an ELG with a star and oval. There's an R with possibly a crown above it.

There are many other markings if you think you can identify.

Thanks in advance

First, welcome to the forum!
Those proof marks would be for Evrard of Liege, Belgium.

If you post your photo and info in the "Lounge" you may get more info.

The ELG in the oval is the Belgian Liege mark. The R over crown is an acceptance mark for the period and other markings will be
proof marks. It looks to me like a "horse pistol" or mounted cavalry with the lanyard ring on the flat butt.

Thanks and I'll try to figure out how to move this thread.

Also, is there another message board that is specific to this make. I know this is more a S&W board but I'm not real experienced in this stuff so just grabbed a hold of the first board I could find.

Thanks again... especially you Rimfired for the info. Do you happen to know the period of this gun????

Merry Christmas and welcome to the forum!
