Hot! And it's only June!

I'm with you, WardenRoss. I have a 4 month old German Shepherd I am training and I can't believe how hot it is even at 5:30am which is the coolest time of day. Next week is going to be even worse.

We make a few trips to Lowes so Quigley can progressively get used to walking on hot asphalt. I limit it, but it's a necessary evil, in case he has to do some unexpected pavement crossings.

I'm sure some animal rights people frown on this training, but it's a necessary skill. He's done well and we are successful at it. I don't over do it though. Like today, no Lowes parking lot!

Heat index is still 101.

I'm debating on riding the grass cutting machine today before dark, or getting up before daylight and riding it in the morning.

I'll be hating myself if I put it off till tomorrow.

I made the mistake of mowing a little too short around the house 4-5 ft ( do it for snakes/critters/bugs off the porch) then it turned hot 100+ for 3 or 4 days and 25-30 MPH winds. Its like walking on a bristle brush now. Im good as long as the A/C holds out. Go out in the morning till noon. Then after 1700 go for my walk, shovel manure (my favorite pastime) actually dont mind. Pet the baby horses and mommas for a while. 1830 have a muscle relaxer or two, with the better half, a little dinner ( not so hungry when its hot) watch the deer filter into the yard. You know sounds like a lot of us have it pretty good. Maybe we deserve it, maybe we are lucky. Probably some of both.

Its taken me a few years out of working/living in the big city to really start to RELAX about everything and start to "Kick Back". and it feels pretty good. I do feel for folks that still have to drive/gas/ and deal with other stuff. I help who I can, when I can and thats about all you can do.

I absolutely detest hot, humid weather. Every year this time, I start counting down until the fall and winter...

Maryland has been miserable this week (though apparently not as bad as many other parts of the country). I've been thinking back only eight weeks, when I was deep in the Swiss Alps...and the temperature at the top of the Jungfrau was only 1° Fahrenheit...with a 20 mph wind blowing...just perfect! :)
