Was at a Rural King store in my area and there in the handgun case was a Shield 9mm in FDE w/Thumb Safety, priced at $289.

I already carry a 9mm Shield-Std. Black, No TS. I really like FDE and the price was definitely right (the 2.0 was right next to it @ $399). But couldn't justify having a 2nd Shield 9mm, just because of the color. I headed home, but turned around to go back and get it; but talked myself out of it and came home. They only have 1 left at that price. Usually don't see new Shields at that price. How bad did I mess up???

Not sure you messed up. Depends on what you need/want.

The $399 sounds in the ballpark for the 2.0 (at least in greater Seattle area) and if you bought the 1.0 and wanted the trigger to be as good as the 2.0 (using Apex kit) you'd spend another $165 for a total of $454.

So the 2.0 is a better deal.

If you like the stock 1.0 trigger you did miss a $75 savings for a 1.0, which are going for $365 with a safety in this neighborhood...or $329 for no safety (a $40 difference.)

Personally, I had 3 Shields, one in 9, one in .380EZ, and one in .45. I only have 1 left...ditched the 9 and 45 in favor of a CS9 (just as easy to carry and I like Smith 3rd gens) and a 4513 for the bigger bullets. I kept the EZ in case I ever get arthritis and needs an easier-racking carry gun. (I also have a 6906, Sig 250 subcompact, 3953, and Sig 245 for carry.)

Don't sweat it...there's always another gun and always another bargain.

FDE commands around a $30 mark up, so if a black is available for $250 and it's a good deal figure $280 for the FDE. FFL transfer fee is included in price you quoted. I say go back and buy it. I put an Apex sear in my 1.0 Shields and am quite happy with the $43 investment in the trigger. So you would spend $332 compared the the $399 for the 2.0. The Apex sear makes the 1.0 Shield trigger feel as good or better than the 2.0 Shield's trigger in my opinion and I own both versions.

A lot of times in life it is not "What We Need", but "What We Want". If getting it does not put you in a financial bind, then get what makes you happy. We only go around once and life goes very quick, seize the moment.

The world hasn't come to an end, the sun still came up this morning, you didn't cause anyone's death, and another one of those will show up sometime. You're good.
