How did you find your way to this forum?

I did a google search. I've been shooting S&W revolvers since about 1980. But, once we got a computer, I discovered various forums and so I went looking to see what was available regarding S&W handguns. Sincerely. brucev.

My adult son bought a couple Sig handguns a couple years ago. Went to a range with him and my interest was rekindled. Although I am a revolver guy, started as a LEO with a model 19.

Last year I went to my first gun show and decided a model 17 was for me. A Google search later I was here. I don't contribute much in the way of knowledge but I sure do consume.

I was already on a forum about cars.
Then I bought a motorcycle and joined a forum for my Yamaha V Star.
Learned a lot there so when I bought my M&P 40C I searched for a forum and found all you lovely people.

Many years ago I was researching for a concealed carry gun. My research led me to a snub nose .38. I read the reviews on other brands and they kept saying such things as, "fit and finish aren't perfect but then again it's not a Smith and Wesson," or like, "shoots almost as well as a Smith and Wesson" and other stuff like that.

So I wanted to do more research on Smith and Wesson snub nose .38's. My googlin'. kept leading me here. I decided on a 442 based on what I had learned, as well as my preferred method of carry. I went through a few holster designs but always carried strong side owb and sometimes in my pocket with a pocket holster.

Anyway, years went by and I found myself being forced to go on disability. Now I've got some time to fill and no work buddies to talk about guns, knives, booze and women with.
Decided to join this here forum as well as a few others.

Other forums had too much hostility. I joined an ALS forum after my preliminary diagnosis of ALS but I was shocked at how members berated and insulted other members. After my final diagnosis of MMN, I joined an MMN forum but there was way too much of, "Oh woe is me." It was depressing.

The people on this forum are an excellent bunch. They're knowledgeable, humorous, friendly and willing to freely share information. There's also a lot of very skilled leather artisans who have encouraged me to improve my own leatherworking to try to at least get myself into the general neighborhood of being in their league.

I even started my own video channel showin' some of my techniques.

The people here seem to be willing to put up with my inane blithering.

I've stopped going to a lot of other forums and basically just go here and to a leatherworking forum.
Also, I spend some time uploading and editing videos on my video channel and now I seem to be collecting subscribers. I guess it's kinda like watching a train wreck.

I forgot. Been a member for a dozen years or so. Really slacked off last few. Anybody miss me?

Several years ago, I bought a Smith and Wesson revolver. I already had a couple of CZs, but shot them only rarely, and would not have called myself an enthusiast.

A friend told me about this forum. I quickly discovered not just how little I knew, but how much could be learned here, not just about Smiths, but about other guns as well. For a few years, I mostly listened and learned. With a little knowledge, I developed a genuine interest in guns, and in the meantime came to enjoy the conversation here.

I'm primarily a S&W collector, but I hadn't bothered to look for a forum. But I also own some SIGs and was looking for information on P210s. Found the Sigforum and it was a really well run place. Then someone mentioned that Para also had the S&W forum. So I lurked at both for a few months, harvesting good information from both. I joined the sigforum first, but then joined here.

One of the regular posters was giving out really good information. That was Dewey. He was giving out the best answers I'd ever read on the internet. He's semi-gone these days, but just when you about write him off, up he comes with a winner or two. I've tried to step in and fill some of the void he's left.

In many ways the sigforum is better. You can discuss adult issues without the owner or moderators getting offended. On the downside, they're mostly younger guys, maybe half my age. That forum is organized in a way that includes sub titles on Knives and other cool stuff. Because they both came from the same start, you see a lot of similarities.

The obvious advantage here is the S&Ws we discuss. One thing well done here is we seem to be trying to archive all the old posts. It goes back to about the point where Lee took it over. Of course he deleted all our old post counts. That was kind of painful because I was at 14,461 at the time. It'd put me over 20,000 now. Doesn't matter much, I know it.

One of the really painful parts are some of the good guys we've lost from both places. Like Feralmerril. I sure wish he'd behave so we could get him back.

I had bought a S&W 3rd gen and couldn't find out much on the other forums I was on, so I started looking around and found this place! And you all have been helping out ever since.

I feel that I actually know some of the members here instead of just knowing screen names like on the other forums I'm a member on.

Thanks! :)

Memory? I've forgotten what that is.

I don't remember what I was doin' last week let alone back in 2003.:(

I had to laugh because just today it was getting close to lunch time. I poked my head in the house from my shop and asked my wife, "What's for lunch?". She said, "I haven't given it a thought since that great breakfast we had, I'm not hungry yet." .......... I said, "We had breakfast this morning?" Well, I wasn't 'that' hungry, so it must be true." If I miss breakfast, I'm so hungry by lunch time that my stomach is asking my mouth if my throat has been cut. :-) And I still don't have a clue as to just what I ate at that reputed breakfast. ............ Big Cholla

Indirect find. Bought a Ruger Security Six in 2005 and found the Ruger forum. Cannot recall how that happened. Anyway, figured there should be a S&W forum and low and behold found it and been here ever since.

Good folks and excellent information.
