How did you find your way to this forum?

I have found the ownership and membership to be outstanding, in both manners and knowledge, which is generously shared.
^^^^^^quoted from 2hawk. This is another reason I like this place and stay. Got to hand it to the big Ape he runs a very good ship and just tight enough to the best forum on the internet.

You think Google is your Friend?

I had heard about Gun Forums from a friend including the S&W Forum. At the time I joined, searches were made by members only, and 1,500 threads was too much reading to find info about a M586 with a 2-1/2" barrel.

That membership decision was the most expensive decision I ever made. I have the S&W revolvers to prove it, most (according to Forum wisdom) were bought early, and I have learned a lot about S&W revolvers. The good news is that I only bought them 6 months early, not 6 years :D .

The compassion and knowledge on this Forum are amazing. There are a wealth of auto repair experts that hand out free advice, people that are expert in home repair problems, and answers to any question you might ask -- some of the answers might even work. This is a great place to hang out.

Next I'm going to start working on this tact and diplomacy issue I have when dealing with 'delicate' people. Some folks just don't appreciate good Yankee humor or the plain truth -- acceptable versus perfection  .

I was looking for information on a specific S&W firearm.

Same here. I was looking to find out more about a Model 28. I was a member on a couple other forums, but they were nowhere near as nice as this one. Did you know that on some forums, asking the wrong question can get you yelled at?

So I lurked about for a year or so. I realized that this forum is the most intelligent, polite, and just plain entertaining forum on the 'net, so here I am! I still go to the Colt forum occasionally, but just for info, not to participate.

Brian Williams recommended it.....

Like so many others, I came back after several years of inactivity. Shot lots of silhouette (Model 57) in HS, then moved on. Later, after several years of SIGgery, I bought a 3" Model 36 (actually, liberated it is closer to the truth) from a gunstore in Honolulu. Poor thing hadn't been used much, and was wasting away. Fixed that :) Found the Forum on the Internet (thank you, Mr Gore :O) Here I am years later with a small collection... well, leastways the ones that survived the tragic boating accident ;)

When I bought my first M&P I did a search for Smith and Wesson and the forum came up at the top.

Have learned a lot here!

For me it was my search for a Smith & Wesson Model 681, NYSP stamped. This was my first revolver issued to me when I was a new NYS Trooper back in 1983. When we switched over to Glocks we were given the opportunity to buy the 681; I couldn't afford it. So 30 years later my search on this forum began and I was fortunate to buy one from a forum member. Just posted a photo in the 581/681 thread today.

I was a late bloomer to handguns. AS soon as I caught the bug I needed to know everything about them. I tried a couple of other gun forums that were not terribly helpful nor patient. Then I bought a couple of old S&W revolvers at a gun show. I needed to know more about them so this forum pops up on Google. The rest is history...there is a horse for every saddle. This forum became my home and S&Ws became my "hobby" !

I found this site googling (is that an activity) leather holsters. Since then, I've acquired three k-frames, one n-frame, multiple belts and holsters, custom grips, bullet molds, etc.... And I have had the time of my life doing it !!!! I really enjoy all of the members and their comments !!
