How many of us actually SHOOT our main edc pistol?

If folks want to pretend that they're John Rambo and that they'll totally be prepared for a gunfight because they've got so much ammo/gear strapped to them at any given time and can blast the head clean of a stationary cardboard silhouette target, then that's their prerogative.

Pre-DemPanic I went to the range weekly.
My EDC is a 2012 (Gen1) Shield. It has well over 30K (maybe 35K now?) rounds through it, so yeah... I practice regularly with it.

I don't have any 'Rotation', but always bring one of my backups (G19, G26, or G48) to stay proficient with them should something happen to the Shield.

I've never had to worry about reliability with any of my carry pistols... It's all about proficiency.

Anytime I head to the range I bring my EDC .

Anytime I go anywhere my EDC goes with unless it's banned. Like the library or hospital. Then it waits in the car.

My EDC is a 38. My Dillion progressive press pumps out 38's like nobody's business. My EDC gets shot more than any other gun except probably my 22 pistols.

Every range trip. I also use it for any classes I take. I find it interesting to see the guns/gear guys show up to the classes with. These are ccw oriented trainings, very dynamic, lots of real world type scenarios-use of cover, sometimes even running drills from a vehicle. The instructor has an old non-running truck we use.

It's how I've been training for a looong time lol.

I figure for me it's what gun/gear I use to carry that I want to train with. I do carry a full size 1911 during the colder months so during those sessions I use that under a jacket in my usual holster.

You play like you practice (credit that bit of wisdom to The Ironman - Cal Ripken Jr). 50-100 rounds through the EDC Glock 30 at every range outing, at least every other week. Then the party can get started...

My EDC 6906 is at best a compromise of several factors. Reliability, capacity, weight, size etc. It sure ain't what I shoot best. I can hit what I aim at at "combat distance". I just need to be prepared for "psycho action" that seem to be prevalent in our society. Example not 30 miles away.

Well, here's the simple math. I bought a Sig P365 for EDC about 30 months ago (2.5 years). In that time I have put 3500 rounds through it so divide the 3500 by 30 and thats 117 rounds per month average. Not only did I want to be totally comfortable and accurate with it, but I wanted to prove its reliability - and I have. While there have been times I have shot more, there are also times i've shot less - hence the averaging.

ONE of the very reasons I went to the Sig and retired my M60-7 from EDC was because I am very insistent that I practice with what I carry and the J Frame was no longer something I wished to shoot that much anymore - especially with +P ammo which is what I carried in it. The J Frame was a chore to practice with and the Sig is a pleasure and lots of fun.

So will I continue to average the same in the future? We'll see but I have no reasons not to as I really like shooting it and since I reload ammo isn't an issue. Not practicing with your EDC is not good IMHO. Keeping sharp is a constant program.

cmansguns, There are lots of good 9mm defense rounds now. Personally, I use hornaday critical defense 124 gr. since I had a stock of it before the last ammo shortage.

A couple weeks ago PSA sent out emails saying they had the complete Dagger frame in stock for $99. When I first saw them advertised last year I thought they looked pretty nice for the price so it only took me about 5 seconds to decide to get one. Picked it up today. Ergonomically it feels very nice. Better than

any of my moded/stippled Glock frames. The trigger pull isn't bad. No worse than any unmodified factory Glock triggers. I'll do some polishing later this week to see what I can improve on. The actual trigger shoe is very M&P like. I find that appealing. I really hate the shoe on unmodified Glocks. The underside of the trigger guard has been contoured nicely. There's one edge on the right side I'll probably touch up, but it is hands down better than the factory Glock. Same for the beavertail. There is a seem you can see in the pictures. It's along the centerline. You can barely feel it. But I'll probably touch it up a bit under the trigger guard and high on the backstrap. Mags drop free, both factory and Magpul. It did not come w a mag, which is no big deal to me. So here ya go, the Glock open gun that isn't a Glock. PSA frame, Brownells slide. AIM Surplus barrel and slide internals. SWPA comp. Swampfox Justice optic. Ameriglo BUIS.

If I am not just shooting .22's or long guns, I shoot it every time I go to the range. If I take family, we shoot EDC pistols first, then the fun shooting.

I shoot my carry gun every trip to the range. These days twice a month.

Primary carry is a 1911, fired maybe 50 rounds every other day to daily depending on how big a lunch I get. On Saturday I shoot the USMC 1911 pistol qual course, 50 rounds 300 points. After that on average about 300 to 350 rounds.

BUG is a Colt Officers or Kimber Ultra, same USMC qual course along with 300 to 350 rounds each weekend.

I also have a personal policy: I don't carry any gun that I haven't put at least a thousand rounds through.

I put at least 15 rounds at 7 yards through my Gen 1 Shield each range day.

Less than a year ago, especially with that trigger, I couldn't have done this so it's paid off.

Different EDC's based on time of year, due to clothing i.e. causal vs. formal attire, but they all get a work out as often as possible, the current EDC monthly at a minimum.

On the rare occasion I get to the range my carry guns are always the one that get shot the most. I believe that any gun you carry you should remain up to speed with.

My EDC for many many years was a 88 6906. First gun i ever bought, first gun i ever had stolen, and returned to be about 5 years later. Carried it daily, and shot it until the barrel almost wore out.

Updated to a M&P .40, carry it daily and it goes to the range with me every time I go, thousands of rounds through it. shes getting old.

Time to buy a LNIB 6906 and shoot that to death as well.

If you dont shoot what you carry, you'll probably die with it in your hand.

My EDC's an M&P Shield, either a 9mm or 45acp, and they go to the range with me every week. Due to the ongoing shortage, might only run 1 or 2 mags thru them, but it's enough to keep the proficiency up.
