How many of you have 38 special revolvers

HB nickel and a Royal Hong Kong Police.....big fun.
And of course, there's the odd Colt in the mix...oh, I forgot the 36 no dash and the 642-1.....

.38 S&W Special is a terrific caliber. You cannot go wrong with this caliber for plinking at the range with wadcutters, or for self defense with a JHP.

I have several revolvers chambered in .38 Special, including:

Model 14-3 6"
Model 15-2 4"
Model 38-2 2"
Model 64 No dash 4"
Model 67-1 4"
Model 638 No dash 2"
Model 642 No dash 2"

My 38-2 and 642 are my every day carry guns.

The others are occasional shooters at the range.

Enjoy your .38 Specials, and your search for more!

In all my gunning life (owning for a hair over three decades) I've own a sum total of TWO J-frames and J-frames are not for me, I cannot imagine there even being a third example to appear in my collection.

K-frame S&W chambered in .38 Special however, I'm at or near a dozen.

I love shooting K-frames on any range day. I don't care to go about armed with a revolver. I understand that others do and I respect that. If I did care to carry a revolver, I would probably revisit the J-frame.

But for shooting .38 Special, man I dig a K-frame!

.38 Special

2 five inch M&Ps, 3 Combat Masterpieces, 2 Masterpieces (14-3), 1 Model 60 ND, and a 3 inch Ruger. Love the caliber.

A model 15, model 14, vintage Colt Agent and 4" Taurus model 83.

Plus .357's ... a 6" model 66 and a Ruger Stainless Blackhawk Convertible.

I have 10 Martinn67 and love them all.I rotate the 2in and 3 in snubs monthly for my edc and shoot the 4 and 6 inchers monthly.Nothing better than a .38 special and your 64 sounds like a sweet heart.Enjoy the heck out of it and what a bonus getting to do it with your family.Im sure you are that 12 year old grandsons hero.

I have a blued 2" S&W Model 12-2 Airweight (K-frame) shipped in 1963 that served as my backup for the last few years of my badge-toting days. It's in honorable retirement in my safe.

It has been replaced with an oxide-finished 2" Taurus 856 with Galloway Precision spring kit, a Hogue Monogrip, with an Ameriglo night sight on the way.

Sharing time with the Taurus 856 is my .357 Magnum 4" S&W Model 65-1. If I'm home, it's loaded with Federal .38 Special +P 130 grain Micro HSTs just like the Taurus (& they can use the same speedloaders!). Reloads at home are Winchester .38 Special 130 grain "Defend" JHPs because the HSTs have no ogive to guide the rounds into the chamber.
