I decided I would rather stick to my 686 for carry as I can conceal it in a baggy windbreaker. Even with an outside waistband holster at 3 O'Clock a windbreaker 2 sizes too big for me does a great job of making it disappear. The problem is when it gets above 80 degrees, or I want to wear shorts and a tank top. Any tips on how I could conceal it under the most minimalist of clothing conditions or am I just stuck sweating it out in a windbreaker if I want to carry my 686?

Two sizes too big Hawaiian shirt or something? Lighter fabric, same idea. You'll look goofy (as I'm sure a two sizes too big windbreaker does) but there's really not a way to shrink the size of the revolver.

All I can tell you is back in the day we carried under a jacket in a shoulder holster .And a small snub-nosed revolver under the shirt for warm weather.

I would think one of the holsters Crossbreed sells as a belly band would work best.

I dig Hawaiian shirts so this sounds delightful over a windbreaker hahahahahah

A few ago - I walk into a local Bookstore.
Everybody is looking up at the Video monitors.
So I look see.
A rather small skinny wrinkled face guy walks in, looks around and walks out. They are looping the video.
I say who? Several folks yell at me-
The Mick! Mick Jagger!
He’s wearing a Trenchcoat.
Nobody else is wearing one.
Maybe he was carrying concealed?
Maybe a Shotgun?

Yeah, I would try a belly band too. They look like they might be good for this type of carry. I live in AZ, so it's pretty warm here most of the year, but I find that shorts with a good belt and a camp shirt will conceal an average auto like a glock 19 with ease. No one knows I'm armed. Even my wife sometimes asks me if I am cause she can't tell without asking.

I EDC my 3" 686+ in a (IWB) Milt Sparks Summer Special II easily. A loose t-shirt hanging over it or whatever type shirt and it's never been a problem. It's THE BEST holster of it's type. Outstanding quality and comfortable all day.

If over-dressed too conspicuously, out of season, etc. can raise suspicions as to what youre up to??? Kind of a tall order IMO to conceal a 686 during warm weather but loose, baggy clothing with decent belt and IWB is probably best???

Kinda depends on your body type, but, I find the Hawaiian shirts work
really well to conceal a .44 special 4 in. And no one questions shorts
with an aloha shirt in hot weather.

Got two Hawaiian shirts for my birthday yesterday. Went to the beach with swim trunks and nobody asked questions. Hawaiian shirt for the win

The darker colored, complex pattered Hawaiian shirts conceal well. Size 'em a little too big. Grips part of the "hide" package too. If your hand likes them, the smooth wood Miculek grips hide better than most anything else.

I used to conceal a 4 inch 586 in a Safariland upside down shoulder holster between a t-shirt and an untucked dress shirt. Worked well.

Well, if you simply must carry and conceal a large revolver, which I don't understand but it's not about me, in the summer heat an aloha shirt always works or, for that matter, any short sleeved shirt worn loosely over your tucked in tank top or T-shirt. You cannot wear a wind breaker in 90 degree weather unless you really do not mind looking like a goofball. Besides, there are a host of lightweight vests that will work, too, fishing-type to give you an idea. I've used Hawaiian shirts and camouflage shirts and just brightly colored short sleeved shirts worn untucked. Jeans, shorts, it doesn't matter and, yes, the Summer Special type holster is excellent. There are other holsters that work, too.

If you're tall it works better than if your a short squirt like me. Oversized Hawaiian shirts start to look like dresses but, then, again, we're back to whether or not you mind looking goofy. A Hawaiian shirt attracts enough attention without folks staring at you because you look funny. Jus' sayin'....... :D

The Hawaiian shirt in tall length seems to be the perfect answer. As to why I would rather carry an L Frame 686 than a J frame. I am good with my 686 and trust it, rather look silly in a large hawaiian shirt than fashionable with a gun I am not familiar or skilled with :)

I’m opposed to Hawaiian shirts for any reason. I’m a little bigger than most and concealing a larger handgun is probably a bit easier for me. But I have carried a square butt 4” model 10 with shorts and shirt. I have found even the thin fast dry material shorts work with an inside the waistband holster if u have a good stiff belt. To me the belt was always the key and I used a cheap lightweight cloth holster. At 3-4 o’clock most any loose fit untucked shirt does the trick. I don’t think there is a perfect answer. Going armed means sacrificing comfort more often than not.
