I"m A Dangerous Man, Humph

In the movies, "you're damn right I am, and if you keep messing with me you're gonna find just how dangerous!" but in reality you handled it very maturely but I still would've asked to speak with the supervisor because as stated before your CCP is much more proof of identification!

I suspect that like too many government employees he resented actually having to deal with the public. Also you'd be suprised how many government policies are made up on the spot.

The way you handled it was probably best.
I would probably have asked him if stupidity was painful and then informed him I wanted to speak with his supervisor.

In government settings we make up 87.9% of all statistics on the spot.

Your answer was excellent!

When my friends in VA found out I had a carry permit and said stuff like, "You're dangerous!" I said, "That's right! Stick with me!"

Bassamatic, I think Gus would have said something humorous and told him to fetch his supervisor. I think Woodrow Call's reaction would have been more fun to watch. From a little distance, too.

You might have pointed out that useing a SS card for ID violates federal regs. (unless thats been changed)

I applaud your restraint!
Amazing that idiot would needle someone who just lost their job. That is what I call terminally stupid.
Of course I would have told him, "You got a pretty mouth...now squeal!" (ok maybe not that, exactly).

You might have replied Pardon? This proves I have passed a background check with 14 state and federal agencies, as well as it being a state issued card. Of course it's easy to come up with that as I sit back and in
retrospect.

He's a jerk - what state is this anyway Windjammer? if I may ask

Randal; - Wash state doesn't have photo
on the C.P.L. wish there was, I could hand him my C.P.L. and my card from the VA doc that verifies I'm legally Blind to freak the crap out him. heh.

I am a government employee and hate that I'm too often lumped into the same catergory as jerks like this. I consider it my job to serve the public and don't resent dealing with them at all. This guy should be reprimanded, or at least educated.

Hi,

I learned a real good answer/question to respond to dumb folks with a little power . . . and less smarts . . .

"I'M SURE YOU HAVE A VERY GOOD REASON FOR __________,

WOULD YOU MIND TELLING ME WHAT IT IS?" Then, give them a friendly, silent, questioning smile and don't say a thing. The ball is in their court and you've turned the tables so that THEY have to answer YOU with "LOGIC."

Many times, they'll stop . . . look puzzled, and say, "You know, I don't know why we can't do that, let me find out."

If they don't say this, then ask for their supervisor . . . and ask, "I'M SURE YOU HAVE A VERY GOOD REASON FOR __________________, WOULD YOU MIND TELLING ME WHAT IT IS?

A friend of mine recently did this at our local county tax collector's office and . . . they entire department suddenly realized that they really didn't have a good reason to deny his request . . . and they then re-wrote the policy!

This works VERY well in disarming bureaucrats who fail to think things out.

T.

When I got laid off in Tennessee. I could sign up on the internet or by telephone. I did it on the net. I never went to an office. Right after that I retired and am enjoying it. I don't know how I found the time to work???
