By now I'm sure you have heard that Chipolte Grill has asked gun owners NOT to bring their guns into their business. This as a result of customers being made uncomfortable by the site of AR-15's and assorted other long guns being open carried by other customers.

Part of me would like to think that gun owners are intelligent enough to see what has happened with other businesses at which this has occurred, realize that their actions are counterproductive...and stop it! But alas...this is too much to ask. Then it occurred to me: what if it is really the anti-gun crowd who is doing the open carry blitz in order to create a
justification" for their protest and petitions?

Probably not....but I wouldn't put it past them!!!

Fanatics don't rationally consider the consequences of their actions.

And to blame some anti-gun conspiracy, is just plain silly.

The odds are that stupidity, rather than a conspiracy, is the issue. Most people are not even arguably smart enough to put together a good conspiracy, and even fewer can do that AND keep their yaps shut.

The more I see how much hatred we get from the open carry extremists, the more opposed I become to path being taken. I had to answer a call some years back for an open carrier in a grocery store. There was NOTHING in the call that justified enforcement action of any type or making contact with the carrier. I knew from the area code (NOT 509) that we were going to be dealing with a handwringing crybaby, and that's what we found. He was really bent out of shape about seeing a gun; he was more so about the fact that we were not even going to look for the carrier. He spent a lot of time whining about the law, and was emphatic about contacting his legislator to change that. This is the trend we will continue to experience as a result of this path, and it will do us a lot of damage.

I am always happy to take my business elsewhere. Couple of year ago my bank put up "no guns" signs on the doors. I asked to speak with a bank officer, closed my account, declined a check and took cash, then walked out the front door and across the street to another bank that welcomed my new account.

In the spirit of the original post I must admit that I always left I my AR, 870, and M1 Carbine in the truck while doing business there. But I always carried a sidearm discreetly. Always.

That is another restaurant off my list of places to eat. Oh well
I like Chinese food better anyways. I did take the time to write them an email, advising them that neither me nor my friends would be eating there.

I saw something on another site that leads me to believe that
this restaurant's action was in response to a request from a former influential NYC mayor, who had asked them to adopt
a no gun policy. My opinion is that nobody should be allowed
to hire armed security for themselves while they advocate
no guns for anyone else.

Their automated response to the email sent to their company
website is fast, and appears to me to be an attempt to retain
the business of us CHL holders, but they will not get mine.

If anyone here remotely resembles these two dipwads then I apologize in advance.Yeah ,I know 2nd Amendment...God given rights...Blah,Blah,Blah!

The gene pool is obviously tainted on both sides of the aisle and people like this don't advance our cause.

Wasn't the guy on the left in "Deliverance"? The other clown is either wearing crocks or pumps.Must be California transplants.

Google the "Chipolte Grill gun incident" and take a look at the what caused it. I'm not against open carry but in this case come on it's a little over the top as far as I'm concerned. I just looked up a saw someone posted what I saw. Coltle6920 is right it doesn't advance our cause and just stokes the flames for the anti gun crowd.

Open carry is an acquired taste, especially for those NOT used to seeing firearms openly displayed or those simply ignorant of firearms carry and usage. That said, as far as I'm concerned, anyone walking into a public establishment with an exposed AR/AK/etc. is an idiot looking for trouble. Prove your point some other way, or expect to get hassled. Not right, but just the way it is.

I don't feel safe around various people at my membership-only club/range, so I'm not going to be comfortable next to some random person in the booth next to me with his rifle propped up. I'd simply leave and go elsewhere.

SERIOUSLY!

Anyone who is NOT on the side of Chipotle after seeing these knuckleheads should reconsider their views on OC, CCW, and gun ownership...period.

These two refute all that is "good" re: guns! Some people should not own guns...add these two to that group.

Be safe.

And you are someone who is familiar and comfortable with guns...can you imagine how those unfamiliar and uncomfortable must feel?

My fear is that these "attention seekers" are going to cause the type of backlash that caused California to lose open carry rights.

Is it just me or does anyone else think the @&& on the right should be arrested for brandishing? If he held a handgun like that he would on the needing help end of a 911 call.

I'd argue in many cases it is not the guns, nor the open carrying, but that the least stable people use it for the wrong reasons. Idiots parading a gun down the street with a camera hoping to catch a cop for Youtube, yahoo "look at me" types, and every jackwagon trying to make a 'statement". I'm an old, right wing, reactionary style person, and watching any person acting in such a radical manner for any cause makes me sick, be it a cause I am against or for. I find many of these goobers do not care about the cause, but simply the attention and the enjoyment of creating controversy. People who carry guns in a manner designed to garner attention and disturb the public are radical, plain and simple.

What about all the open carriers who act in a civilized manner and do everything in their power to avoid problems? What about concealed carriers flashing their guns at everyone to proclaim "see what I got!". Its not the gun, nor the type of carry, it is the defective individual, and like any cause, we attract them. In some cases, we do not even need an armed person acting innapropriately: have you ever observed any activists harassing and browbeating random people to support their cause in such an overbearing and aggressive way that it turns people off? We have them too.

Does open carry Gary Goodman, who carries a pistol openly on his hip, never drawing attention to it or talking about it, have much to do with Bert Badman who straps a tacticool holster on, fingers the damn thing regularly in public, and tells every single human being in earshot about carrying and open carry? Does Gary open carrying a more traditional rifle on a traditional sling in areas that are open to such acts relate to Bert carrying around a rifle, purposely modified to attract attention, and carrying it around in an inner city area where he knows it will make people feel uncomfortable and most certainly he will be confronted by police?

The point being, that Gary will not give us trouble, wither he is open carrying a long gun only in places and in a manner that is acceptable, or when he is carrying concealed. Bert is going to give us nothing but grief, no matter what he carries and how, be it an M-60 strapped to his back, or chasing people around a public park with rhetoric and cards.

I know that gun owners need to stick together, but I think its high time we start to purge the radicals that threaten us all. There is a point where those who take actions that endanger all of our rights, do not enhance our rights, and are a greater evil than good. At some point we must shed ourselves of liabilities, and refuse to condone some acts done in the cause's name. At some point the risk of disunity is not as great as the risk of internal disruption and harm from the radicals among us.

I think open carry will eventually return, legally, and see more public acceptance, with time., and I do not believe it to be the biggest cause, nor the greatest threat to the movement, but those supporters of open carry should realize the way they act and advocate can force the subject to be the latter or the former. We are better served to advocate quietly and respectfully, not loudly and disruptively.

As the old internet meme with the hissing cat goes, "This is why we can't have nice things".

I do not even own a long gun, or rifle myself, and I would not open carry if it were legal for handguns. But if Chipotle restricts "ALL" guns, including CHL holders, I am not on "their" side either. I am not taking the side of these two open carry
proponents. But what they are anyone else does will not make
me spend money where I cannot carry, regardless of their motives.

Chipotle is now off my list of places to do business of any kind
any where, any state. As for them two guys in the picture,
I figure they are trouble makers. What they do or do not do
won't does not give Chipotle a free pass to endanger my safety
by making CHL illegal on their property. Their policy is their
business, where I do business is mine. Period.

Apparently, showing even more that the little doofus with the soup sandwich SKS is not our friend, he has even more stupid stuff on his Facebook page. He's just a part of the unproductive anarchist/thug life mess that needs 3 gallons and a swirl.

If I saw someone walk into a restaurant with THAT SKS I'd be the first one to leave. That rifle proves he knows nothing about guns and if something were to happen there he would either be the cause of it (ND) or at the least more dangerous than the perp who's trying to rob the place

Just curious. Did you comply with their new stated policy of not bringing any gun into their restaurant and have they put
up a 30.06 sign yet? You know us CHL holders disarming will
correct the problem they had with them open carry trouble makers.

I'm located in Michigan but they did not have a sign posted. I was told its my responsibility to find out if its "OK" to carry in an establishment and they do not need to post a sign. So I've been Googling places I visit often.

Ill plea the fifth on the question!!

Very stupid people
