If limited to 10 rounds, what do you carry?

In states that limit to Ten rounds, do they limit how many mags you can carry?

I am in NJ, so I am limited to 10 rounds and can't carry in this state. But besides relying on a shotgun for self defense, my nightstand gun is a S&W M&P 40 gen 1 full size. Loaded with 10 rounds of Hornady Critical Defense which isn't a hollowpoint according to the state police.

Sig P-239 in the winter, M36 in the summer. Recently purchased a P-30 SK That may become my EDC year round if I can get the sights and trigger worked out.

Well, the decision has been made, and I ended up going with an M&P40 Shield 1.0 Performance Center.

I found it on Clearance for $360 online, and I couldn't pass it up. It had a ported slide/barrel, tritium night sights, and a PC tuned trigger, so it should make for an excellent carry gun.

If limited to 10 rounds... 1911 in either .45 or 10mm, both of which I have. I do have a S&W 1006, which I, also have no problems carrying.

Agreed

Most dont practice enough with one gun much less a carry rotation. Yes I have more than one gun on my ccw & not all identical. Though I do shoot more than the average ccw & certainly more than the avg leo. Dry practice is also important for weapon familiarity.

Agreed. That's why no matter what I'm shooting that day at the range ( rifle, shotgun, pistol) i'm Bringing and shooting my CCW

I'm not licensed yet but

Now its J frame or LC9S. If I was buying new it'd be a S&W Shield 45 acp.
If it's less than 10 might as well be big. If shooting at a mob, I don't want over penetration and do want maximum reaction

I'm going to respectfully disagree.

Many say: if you are limited to 10, make them more powerful than if you could carry 17; the additional "stopping power " compensates for fewer shots.

No. I and everybody else shoots 9 faster and more accurately than 40 or 45, whether they know it or not. 9, 40 and 45 all do the same thing to the bad guy. Who wins, gets a slug or slugs in the right spot. So if you shoot 9 best (and you do), use 9 no matter what capacity you're forced to have.

If forced to carry a handgun with ten round capacity I would have to choose one or both of my Hk-USPC-40s
I have several ten round magazines as that is what these two handguns came with back in 1997 & 2003
I live in a Free State so 12+1 is what they are loaded up with currently..
Do You Have High Capacity Magazines for you're Guns??
Nien.. German for NO!! Not Nine.. HaHa..

Sometimes I carry my Kimber Ultra carry in 45 acp, 7 rounds and 2 additional mags and sometimes I carry my Sig P938, 7 rounds with 2 additional mags. They both are 1911 based and operate exactly the same, so I don't have to think about which sidearm I'm carrying. I also shoot a Springfield Armory M 1A so they all operate exactly the same. You are programed, so whichever model you carry, they all preform the same. Cocked and locked, and thumb saftey. They all operate exactly the same so the imprinting and drawing of the weapon, no matter what you are carrying at the time, is automatic.

Dan Wesson ECO would be my pick: accurate and very dependable.
