Since the 41mag has a tad more penetration over the 44mag I would choose my S&W Model 57 in 41mag. for a revolver. If i went with a 44mag it would be my redhawk with a 7 1/2" barrel .

For an auto my auto ordnance army 1911a1 in 45acp would do nicely too.

Food for thought; I used my reloads in my 6" barreled python when i had it, they were 140gr speer JHP's and were accurate out to 100yds.

I would pick my three inch CS-1 686.

Its just fine for CCW.
Its fine for informal target shooting out to 50 yards.
I can use 148 target loads, 158 LRN, all types of +P and +P+ defense ammo, Med Vel. Remington 125 grain .357 magnum, 110-180 full power magnum (when I want to )

I keep coming back to a 1911 or 1911A1 and 6- stainless 8 shot mags, 1 of those mags with the Remington shot shells. If it were 1 revolver it would be a 4" 25/624 in 45 Colt with 4 plus speedloaders, but the first load to fire would be one of my 45LC 1/2 oz. shot shells, for either walking or driving.

This being a S&W forum, I would love to say it would be my Model 19-4. But I can't. As much as I like that gun, I do have fairly small hands and the K frame is just a tad to big for anything other than shooting at targets. I don't currently own a J frame so that's out. If I could only keep one of what I have, then it would have to be my stainless Combat Commander. Yes, it's a Series 80 but after Jim Rose of Casset Gun in Jacksonville did some trigger work, it has a great feel and breaks at 3.25 pounds. Plus, I have several hundred empty brass, primers, 200gr lead SWC and an unopened canister of powder for it so ammo is taken care of.
