If you could design your own S&W auto pistol.....

As long as we're dreaming about guns never made, I want a 3926TSW and a 5926TSW. I like the idea of a full size, all steel 9mm with a integral rail, which S&W obviously has no interest in producing these days. I would settle for decock-only slide control, but I prefer having it on the frame like a SIG. I'd also be interested in DAO versions of each.*

Additional requests:
- a higher beavertail and undercut trigger guard/frame so I can get a higher grip on the gun
- coarser slide serrations to make it easier to rack the slide
- a cut in the front of the frame like the integral rail 4006TSWs a few of the guys here have. That makes stripping the mag out easier.
- coarser front strap checkering for a better grip, also like those late model 4006TSWs
- larger mag release button

*And if I'm ambitious enough, I could probably track down a late 5906TSW or 5946TSW and have pretty much what I'm looking for, but they're rare as hen's teeth. At this point, I'd probably buy a 4006TSW with those features, even though I don't currently shoot or particularly like .40 S&W.

I'd take a pair of 39xx's,.....a 3946 and a 3943. Old style DOA,.....not the late S&W workaround with the standard slide.

Closest I can come to the 3946 is a 639 lower(with some extension welding)and a 5946 top. It's in the 'project box'.

a 3946 would be nice.
of the 3rds I have,5946 and 6946 are my favorites.
the 3914DAO listed on the sheets is nice,NYPD limited run.

4506 with all forged parts.

Novak night sights.

Integral Picatinny rail.

All Melonite -OR- Cerakote OD frame and black slide.

Since we're dreaming, two piece grips like a 645 with a steel back strap would be nice.

-AND-

Since we're still dreaming, optional longer threaded barrel for a suppressor WITH suppressor height sights.

But I'm just dreaming.......

I would send the 4506 to Wilson Combat have WC Tactical Supergrade .45 ACP made with Grey Armor Tuff coating without the 1911 SA and grip angle/beaver tail. The 4506 is a close to a 1911 as you can get anyway so the internal DA/SA functions would stay the same as well as the grip angle.
OF course this $5K gun with WC specs below might be a little hard to sell/buy at $4K-$5K...so in lieu of my preferred gun I would just have them do what they did with the Beretta 92G Tactical except use the Armor Tuff coating. Instead of the Bruniton finish from Beretta. Cost $1100-1200 tops.

I spent considerable time thinking about where to go with this and finally couldn't settle on just one model, So....

Here's where I'd take things:

Carrying on with the improved TSW lineup I would add these models:
4506TSW
4503TSW
1006TSW
1063TSW
1013TSW
3906TSW
3903TSW
3913TSW

Incorporating the following adjustments:D

*Do away with the proprietary S&W sight dovetails in favor of the standard 1911 Novak cuts thereby opening up a huge array of sight options for the end user.

*Do away with gaudy billboard markings in favor of simple clean roll marks or CNC milled marks

*MIM parts restricted to hammer trigger & sear only. No MIM slide stop or mag catch.

*Revise guiderod to solid steel 0.255 diameter and incorporate flatwire springs as standard.

*Spring loaded decocker standard.

*Spurless hammer is standard, spurred hammer available as option part.

*Clean dust cover a'la first version of the 4513TSW with no rail or screwy contour cuts.

*Proper front strap checkering that's clean, sharp & grippy at 20 or 25 lpi, not that machine cut rubbish.

*frame drilled & tapped for grip scales.

*Option part... Aluminum backstrap (with proper checkering) and Goncalo Alves grip scale set. Standard grip remains the xenoy part

*Finishes: Steel major parts are Isonite QPQ. Aluminum parts are MIL-A-8625 Type III Class 2 (Dyed black) hard anodized. You can have any color you want as long as it's black;)

Cheers

I just thought of one more that I would buy. An aluminum framed 4503. Done up like that 1006 s&w employees gun that was shown here recently. That would be one sweet 45. Regards 18DAI

I'm down with that too. I think that salesman sample 1006 would be pretty close to perfect for me.

I've seen those longslide 59xx guns on here that are beautiful too...a close second.

A PreRail 4053 TSW equivalent in 357 Sig, or a 7053TSW ( the double stack frame size, not the 45 frame size )

After having a 5906 for 25 years Ive recently become a Gen 3 collector I've purchased a CS9, 1006, 1076. My most recent acquisition is a 411, my first .40 (short & weak?) and what I would like to see brought back in 10mm. Trying to figure out the chart I guess it wold be a model 1074.

Scandium alloy frame, 4" semi-compact with an 11 round magazine. Going over the rainbow I'd give it a titanium slide and bushing, Performance Center fit and finish. 3" compact and 5" models offered with it.

I'd sell my 454SS to get all three (well maybe the wife's Trailblazer and only get two).

How about single stack, Single Action only with concealed hammer, sort of like a Colt 1903 on steroids. Imagine that in the caliber, barrel length and material of your choice.

I want a 645 with a frame mounted safety/decocker like the one on the H&K USP so it could be carried cocked n locked.

A 952 or PPC 9 with frame mounted thumb safety.

I used to have a PC leaflet from an early '90s SHOT Show. It had a picture of a .40 - I forget the model number - with a thumb safety. The very nice PC gun on display had a regular slide safety even though SAO. The rep said the thumb safety version was like a yacht. If you have to ask the price, you can't afford it.
