If you could have only one powder...

For the AVERAGE guy one to two powders I would say is sufficient who is looking to punch paper and get the slide to rack back and load another round or the cylinder to rotate etc... and have results they can live with. :)

I would probably agree "second rate" in this case would probably be more accurately described as "less than optimum." And we're comparing results, not the reloader.

I used to be in the military. ;)

And the OP said "one powder." Not many of us who load multiple calibers would want to live with that.

I can agree with that. I work with people every day and am sometimes a bit too critical when dealing with their high end automobiles on how I have to choose words.

Ugh, gotta unplug haha.

There are shotgun, pistol, and rifle loads you can make with Unique.
I do believe tha's where it got its' name.

I'm on the unique bandwagon also. One of the few powders that you can buy in larger than 1 lb containers

Hodgdon Titegroup...a little goes a long way in bunch of hand gun calibers, clean enough and meters well in the Dillon. Bisley

I do loves me some Titegroup - with a caveat:

As long as I remember to pay strict attention to what I'm doing, I mean don't even blink, and check every 50th round for charge weight and OAL.

Titegroup offers superior performance but is a VERY unforgiving powder.

A lot of Unique fans here, but it's Bullseye (first and foremost) and Titegroup for me! I'm mostly loading .45, and occasionally a couple of other handgun calibers.
