I'm impressed by Glocks.....

This IS the Smith & Wesson forum; If you are impressed with the Glock (which is a fine pistol) you should be Very Impressed with the S&W M&P. Having owned both I can say wholeheartedly, the S&W M&P has Glock beat in terms of how it feels in my hand. Much nicer to hold. There is that gravely trigger on the M&P that needs addressing, however if you like to shoot lead you don't have to buy an after market barrel. As nice as the plastic sights on the Glock appear, I prefer the metal sights of the M&P. I think the S&W M&P is certainly worth checking out at your local gun shop and/or range.

Looks like it's a step closer to being official (If we can trust that this wasn't photo-shopped :)):

My daughter bought a 31 in 357 Sig. The LGS she frequents started trying to trade her out of it when she put a 17 on layaway. Silly boys told her the 31 recoil is too much for a girl. She nope, no issues with recoil. It is cost of ammo, she can target shoot the 17 and after x number of 9 mm boxes fired she will pay for it based on the price difference in 357 SIG ammo vs 9 mm ammo.

She keeps the 31 loaded for night crawlers.

Smart girl. Now I need to teach her how to reload.

Thinking about joining a Glock Forum to extoll the virtues of S&W's.DOH! Sorry lost it there for a moment, brain back online.

What's wrong with liking and talking about other guns? Every forum does it. Or maybe we just need another "what S&W to carry in the woods with +P ammo against bears"?

She made a good choice. The Glock 31 is a great pistol. (Mine's not for sale either! ;) )

Grip angles...

Hold your arm outstretched, fist clenched, extend your index finger, and point at something across the room. Pretend your finger is the barrel of an imaginary gun and as you align the sights make note of your hand's grip angle.

The angle of your hand is the angle Glock picked for his handguns. Pretty simple.

OBTW for those who have J frame revolvers, check the grip angle of your little wheel guns. Very close to "GLOCK-like" as you extend your arm and aim it.

I'm sorry I can't have a plastic pistols. When I die I'm going to hell where it's very hot. Plastic melts. Like the song goes the devil pokes me with his pitchfork and I shoot him with my 41.

This IS the "other brands" section, boys -- if you're only capable of discussing S&W, plenty of other sections here dedicated to just that. ;)

I have been impressed by Glocks since I was issued my first one in 1989, a Gen 2 G17. On my third issued one (G23) and own six. No issues that I can blame the gun for and those are very, very few. My old G27 I bought from work is on my hip as I type this. Waiting for a single stack .40 version...

It's a shop :(
How can you tell? What did you spot? Or are you going by what someone else thinks?

I blew up the pic and the Alignment, Pixelation and shadowing on the lettering matches the rest of the pic (3 of the more obvious 'tells').
I'm not saying it definitely isn't a photoShop, but if it is, it was done very well.

Yep. The idea is that if the user (soldier) is blinded he can still shoot straight ahead as long as he can point his finger straight ahead.

I agree that Glocks are great. I love my 23. No, they may not be the sexiest thing on the block, but they run like a champ. I have neve had a malfunction with mine, and if you do have a problem, their customer service is great. I've been to their headquarters in Smyrna because my Gen 2 had a crack in the frame at a slide rail. The gunsmith found it when installing a lighter trigger spring. I took it to Glock, got it back in a Gen 3 frame, and essentially got a new gun back. You get to meet the armorer that is going to perform the work etc. It is generally my primary carry weapon. I just got a new M&P Shield .40 the other day, but haven't shot it yet, but assuming it runs like it should, I will carry it also.
