I'm impressed by Glocks.....

I have Glocks, M&Ps, and Sigs (both old and the new P320) and the shield is my primary concealed carry gun. Had Glocks for most of my gun owning years and recently purchased M&Ps and the Sig P320. All are good guns, each has there pros and cons. I am now constantly reminded why I stayed with Glocks so long -- Parts Availability, you can buy parts and accessories for Glocks very easily, not so with the M&Ps, and the P320. I have managed to build a minimal spare parts inventory for my M&P's. Spare parts for the P320 are non existent and Sig wants you to buy a new magazine for the P250 or P320 if your spring gets weak.

If I had to choose only one gun to keep it would be a Glock, probably a G19 or G23.

What's wrong with liking and talking about other guns? Every forum does it. Or maybe we just need another "what S&W to carry in the woods with +P ammo against bears"?

My mistake, I actually thought it was bad etiquette to extoll the perceived virtues of a gun that is in direct competition with the Forums maker.
It seems to me(mistakenly I guess) that going on a Ford Forum and praising Chevys was not cool so......OK.
Look for my thread "I'm impressed by Colt 1911's".

Did you notice that this section of the forum reads "firearms and knives - OTHER BRANDS"? Did you not see all the posts about 3006 hunting rifles and lever guns, and surplus rifles and 1911s and Sigs and FN, and Walther. Heck there is one guy who was asking about others experiences with the Walther PPS, a direct competitor to the Shield and

This forum is not in direct competition with anyone. It's simply for S&W enthusiasts. But it doesn't mean you can only talk about S&W. Most of us are GUN enthusiasts. Personally my S&W collection is about as big as my HK collection and my Glock collection. But my biggest collection is Mosin Nagants and AKs.

You're more than welcome to talk about your 1911, I do and so do many others.

Heck... That's why Handejector and Crew MADE this Sub-Forum! :)
Have you been to XD-Talk, MP-Forum, or the other Forums?
XD-Talk has a "Non-XD Handguns" Sub-Forum and MP-Forum has a "Autoloader" (Non-M&P) Sub-Forum. Those are just 2 examples. Almost every Brand Based forum I frequent has one. Heck... XD-Talk has many long standing members who have dumped their XD pistols over the years, but still frequent the Non-XD Subform. :)

Aren't there a few 1911 threads here in this Subforum? Another sure won't hurt anyone's feelings... Looking forward to yours. :)

I own one Glock (model 30). Utterly reliable. Very accurate. Very soft shooting (to me). Well engineered. Well made. Easy to maintain. Extremely business-like. Really ugly. I have owned it since 1999, and have put exactly 200 rounds through it. I have never liked any gun less. Plastic guns are not for me. It and my Kahr PM45, should belong to someone who appreciates them.

It's an enthusiasts' forum, owned and operated by same; S&W the company has zero connection to it, so go wild (within forum rules ;) ).

Younger people love plastic guns. My son and his friends, they are in their early to mid twenties, love the modern high cap pistols and see them as contemporary.

I went shooting with my youngest son, he is 24 and just got a LWD ported barrel for one of my Glock 17s that is a highly modified range gun with a Vanek trigger.

He was impressed enough with my 10 yard group to make a photo for his brother. I did a little worse with the S&W 64 DAO, though. Just ten rounds with the Glock and twelve with the Smith before I shot dor speed.

I have a SD9VE which I like very well, but I'm having a hard time not replacing it with, or putting it into a backup role to, a Glock 19.

Took me a lot of years to warm up to them at all. Even when one of the shooters I respect the most was extolling the virtues of Glocks, I remained skeptical and true to my personal preference that a real handgun should be made of blued steel and have a wooden grip.

They wore me down tho, and when I found myself issued a G19, I had no choice but to live with it as a carry gun. After a long time, and a lot of shooting, I grew to respect it, and have a lot of confidence in it.

18 years on, I still carry one daily. It's still ugly, but it's a darn good tool.

Yes Glocks are great handguns. I love mine in 45ACP(G21).. But I also highly value my SIGs n Smith M+P

Went to my LGS today and asked what the word from the Sales Reps were. Looks like the 20th will just be the 'unveiling', with the official release being at the NRA show later this Spring.

The 'impression' they got from their Rep, is that the G43 will indeed be a Single-Stack 9mm, with the size being 'a bit bigger' than the G42.
What does 'a bit bigger' mean? They said they figure it would be similar to the size difference between the P238 and P938... just a bit beefier, to handle the 9mm (and possibly, a .40).

Three more days 'til the speculation is over.

How long after the official release will a reliable version be available? :)

(It sounds like the Glock 42 .380 got off to a rocky start.)

G27,G21,G23, all a distant memory.
Gen2 G19 (now 25Yrs old), Gen4 G26 (bought AFTER the recoil Spring issue), both 100% and going strong.

If it shoots as nicely as the G42, it'll be my next purchase... But after the mob subsides. :)

I think that if you like Glock you will also like Springfield XD.
I have a G19 that I very much like for same reasons many have mentioned. It goes bang EVERY time, easy take down, easy to shoot, etc.
I also have a Springfield Mod 2. Both in 9mm.
Not sure which I like more.

Grip angles...

Hold your arm outstretched, fist clenched, extend your index finger, and point at something across the room. Pretend your finger is the barrel of an imaginary gun and as you align the sights make note of your hand's grip angle.

The angle of your hand is the angle Glock picked for his handguns. Pretty simple.

Very interesting, never heard this before. It makes sense.

Unfortunately (for me anyway) the biomechanics of my hand shift slightly to a more vertical 'grip' angle when I open up from a clenched fist to an actual shooting position.

You can easily experiment for yourself, extend your clenched hand, then simply open it up as if holding a gun. You will see the angle of your grip palm change slightly upwards.

At least mine does. It is why I never really could get used to the Glock angle when shooting (shot G19 and G17 rentals at the range.)

Not Glock-bashing; mind, they just didn't work for me.
