Can you share with us where you found them? That style seems to be at the top of everyones shopping lits!!
Thanks!!

I found these grips for my J frame CCW piece and have been very pleased. The rubber grips that came on the gun originally tended to hang up when rubbing on clothing. This could be a problem when having to draw for defense. So I went with these wood grips. They don't have the clothing grabbing tactile feel to them that the rubbers do and they draw quickly and smoothly. Plus, they're black and they look cool with the wood grain the checkering and the S&W logo.

More pictures please folks, my drool rag is drying out. The opinions are good too. I like to read what works and why for folks.

Ahrends J-frame Tactical Finger Groove grips. They work for me because my hands like skinny grips near the top to direct the recoil into the meat of my hand. The finger grooves and the texture of the wood gives me a good grip. The grips approximate the shape of the stock J-frame magnas + Tyler T-grip--longer grip radius for the middle finger, shorter for the ring finger, and rounded off at the bottom to allow my pinky to curl underneath.

Back from the Past, A thread that's been going on for more than 2 1/2 years..
Here's my 940s joined by thier close relative P&R Model 547 9mm..
I need to get with Craig Spegel to make me a set of Cocobolos for the K Frame square butt M547..
These Uncle Mikes are the best feeling set of grips I've had on this revolver, They started life as a Round to Square convertion grip & with some time & an exacto knife now there Square Butt Grips that aren't produced any longer..
Also Note: Federal Nyclad 9mm ammo :D Thanks DC7!!

Some variation of Uncle Mikes/Butler Creek rubber grips designed by Spegel are what all my revolvers wear. I simply have not found anything that suits me better for fit and feel, be it the boot design grips or the full size. It is ashame they are no longer in production and are rapidly increasing in price. I just found out the UM grips for the Sig 226 can be modded to work on the newer version Sig frames. Looks like I have to find another set! I read the only reason they went out of production was Spegel and UM/BC could not work out an extension of the design licensing agreement.

robotoid on the SIG the newer trigger bar spring is a coiled/loop & you can modify them to work..
I modified an older stippled P220 grip to work on the P220ST Old Rail with the dremel.. Worked great..
I sold ALL My SIGs a while back.. Great German pistols..
I had two P229s 40/357, P220ST, P225, & P228..
I'm down to just 5 S&Ws & 2 22 rifles currently..
Lifes hard sometimes..
Do you still have that 4" M617 SB??
I sold the 3" CS-1 M686 to Rolan_Krapps

Wow, what a long thread!

Gary: You're welcome! This is like a trip down memory lane: I traded you those Nyclads for a couple sets of factory grips back in May of '08....grips that, according to post #45 several pages back, I first sold to you in July of 2006. I love this thread--it's actually been running since before I joined the forum! :D

Glad to see the 9mm Nyclads are being put to good use. Let me know if you ever run out--I'm pretty sure I've got a couple more boxes still stashed away somewhere around here.

PS: I think you found the perfect J-frame grips when you got those Spegels. They're beautiful!

Do you still have that 4" M617 SB??
Gary/Hk

You bet. That is one gun that I will likely keep for good, just because its so cheap to shoot it. I'm still trying to figure out a better sight set-up for it, the black on black just doesn't work for me anymore. I might go WO rear FO front. The only thing I could think of to replace it would be a 650 3" J frame with the 22LR cylinder, and they seem to be few and far between and out of my price range.
Thanks for the tip on the SIG too, that's what I read on another forum. Now I have to find a set of the grips. I had them a few years back and sold them off when we changed from 9mm to 40 Sigs as they were listed as a no fit.

I saw your WTB add in the classifieds on the variouse Uncle Mikes grips & what's a shame is I "HAD" two of the ones you were looking for & had just sold them to someone else..
There's a guy at the local gunshow which is going on this weekend who has a huge box filled with Uncle Mikes grips..
I'll have a look for a P226 grip..
If you need others email me & I'll see if I can aquire them, Can't promise anything, The finacial advisers haven't been looking down on me to highly lately as I was let go from my job of ten years for 4th of July!! **THANKS**

I'm not sure who/what the newer grips that S&W is useing on the J Frames but they are shaped like Spegels without the checkering & have a S&W logo in them, Wonder if Smith has a deal with Craig & they bypassed UM/BC?? Makes sence..
email me robotoid, I'll keep an eye open for those grips in my travels..
I found that I liked the factory stippled SIG grips as there the thinnest available & that P220ST I had came with Hogue grips & I had to modify some Mid90s factory grips to fit it.
Need to post some pictures of Grips to keep this thread on topic?? Oh Let me see..
Gary/Hk

robotoid does this M617 look familiar??

"NICE!! Is That a PC640??
How does it shoot tipoc??
Not sure who makes those grips but they do look comfy.."

Yep it's an early 640 Carry Comp from the PC. Shoots very well. I got the stocks from a fella on EBAY. Grand-Blue he goes by. They are made in Thailand of Siamese rosewood. I have a couple of sets from him. The fit is not always perfect but they do work well for me.

tipoc

Just to be sure
I know that's a 640 No Dash, as I can tell from the frame lug & firing pin bushings pin..
Is that PC640 a 38spl or 357 Mag??
Great Looking piece you have there Tipoc

That's why I asked..
I mean I've seen S&W do so many things that without asking I'd just be guessing..
I saw the frame lug & early firing pins bushing pin but had to ask, Could have been a prototype..
That is one sweet PC revolver..
Thanks for shareing it with the forum..

Gary, PM sent re: P226 grips and others.

I looked at a set of the newest version rubber grips S&W is shipping on J frames, and yes, they are very similar to the UM boot grip in size, feel, and rubber composition. My local shop has a set for sale for only $10.....if you like pink. I saw a black set on eBay go for north of $35 as I recall, which is just crazy. S&W does not list them for sale yet on the accessories portion of their website, but I assume at some point they will.

like these....
