We're nearing the finalizing stage of moving, and it's halfway south for us. I'd prefer the SC coast, around Murrels Inlet, but my wife prefers the Raleigh area.
I'm a summer person, the only time I want to see snow is when my wife watches her annual "It's a wonderful life".
Not interested in land either, been there done that, don't need the upkeep and hassle. Too old for that ****. 1/4 acre, or less, is fine with me. Giving away my mower and snow thrower.
Being close to medical facilities is most important as I get older. I'm in excellent health, as is my wife, but being out in the boonies without a excellent doc or hospital nearby, is not in our future. Raleigh/Durham has Duke Medical and plenty of healthcare options.
Taxes are a pittance in NC compared to what I pay in NY.
The thing I'm going to miss is the food, there's non better anywhere, imo.
Not interested in living anywhere near an invasion force, seen enough of that as well.
It's great that we live in a country with so many choices.
