It's an off brand but when I saw it in the case this morning I wanted a closer look. It's a Taurus model 74 in .32 long. J frame size with adj. sights on a 3" barrel. A strange mix of S&W features, 5 screws and a long action with a coil spring for the hammer??? Feels real good in your hand, at $100.00 OTD I had to bring it home.

You value a hundred dollars a lot less than I do.
Still, any reliably functioning firearm from a more or less reputable maker is probably worth that today.

In Brazil, where the most powerful revolver for the average civilian is .38 Special, a .32 sort of makes sense. I'd take one over a .22 Kit Gun for killing snakes and small game on camping trips. Full wadcutter target loads may be your best bet for stopping power, such as there will be. The bullet profile may help.

IF this gun is timed right and functions okay, it will be a useful little fun gun.

The shape of the trigger and the stocks suggest that it was imported when a company called Spesco was importing Taurus products here. Don't know if Taurus will honor any warranty.

If it's in good mechanical condition I would've paid twice that.
I have an older 86, Taurus' version of the S&W K-38, which will hold it's own against any other brand. They built them a lot more like S&Ws back then, but then so did S&W!

I have newer versions of thier other target revolvers, the 96 and 76, but they aren't quite built the same as my older 86. But I'd even take them over a new S&W.

But before anyone misunderstands me, Taurus never made a better revolver than S&W at the same time, in my highly biased opinion.

I plan on shooting it sometime this weekend. I like oddball guns and this one sure qualifies. The best I can tell it's hardly ever been fired, it's tight as a tick with a very smooth action. I hope it shoots well.

I do not think that there is a better small game or trapline cartridge than the 32 Long/32 New Police. I think you did good.

A lot of us would have reached out to a tight and clean .32 with adjustable sights for $100.

Range report when available, please!

Dyson

I had one just like it except it was nickle. It shot fine but I think the chambers were a little larger than my S&W 32 Longs. Loads that shot fine in my J-Frames gave hard extraction in the Taurus. If you are going to develop loads for it think non heat-treated I frame not J frame. However my Taurus dearly loved S&B wadcutters.
