In Georgia 5 bucks gets you a temporary to keep with your old expired permit until the new one come through. My current one is good for another 3 1/2 years and no telling what the laws will be by then.
I carried before CCW became law in my state. I then got my CCW. Now a permit is not needed to carry. My feeling are unless you live in one of those states that unlicensed carry is almost a capital crime the penalty is far less that the consequences of not having a gun when you need one.

The situation in this state is ridiculous. Baltimore has about 9.5% of the state's population, but accounts for 58% of the state's homicides.
When I was a kid, growing up in Baltimore, it was just a nice, normal American city, with almost 1,000,000 citizens, a vibrant downtown shopping district, and beautiful architecture and monuments. You could go anywhere in Baltimore, just about any time of day, and if you didn't go looking for trouble, you'd be fine.
Now there are about 570,000 residents in Baltimore, and it's a dump. Those formerly beautiful residential blocks look like downtown Berlin in the summer of '45. Criminals control the city's streets, and do whatever they want without fear of consequence. Local and state elected officials know what the problem is, but since it's the elephant in the room that can't be mentioned, their stock answer to rising crime is always more gun laws.
Somebody quipped that Baltimore is like Gotham City without Batman, and while that provokes a chuckle, it's sadly true...

Indiana is now a Constitutional carry state.
Previous to that, the law stated if you applied for your renewal, before the expiration date and said date had passed while the renewal was in process, you were still covered by the now expired permit if you had on your person, both the existing CCL and a copy or receipt of the renewal.

An armed society is a polite society.
Take the guns away from honest, law-abiding citizens who obey gun laws, and the only people who will still have guns are the criminals who COMPLETELY ignore any and all of the gun control laws you may pass - no mater how good your intentions...

When the elephant in the room is being used for more gun laws, I'll talk about it. Think it's far past the time to start using percentages and graphs.
Reminds me of an old TV show where control and chaos were always at odds with each other. I liked the guy always hiding in a community drop-off mailbox, and he just sat there...watching.

LA, NYC, WA-DC, Chicago, Baltimore, St. Louis (my hometown BTW), Detroit...
They all have at least a couple of things in common.
1) The most stringent and restrictive gun control laws in the country, and
2) the highest gun-involved crime rates in the country.
Funny, but it almost seems like there might be a correlation there - like maybe a cause and effect relaitionship?
But the people in power in all of those same big cities insist that doubling-down on the same "solutions" that they've been pushing for decades will some day have some kind of positive effect. Their preferred solutions are things like putting even MORE gun-ownership restrictions on law-abiding citizens - combined with lax enforcement of the very anti-gun laws they have implemented against the real criminal element preying on their citizens.
Seems like a perfect example of the classic definition of insanity...

I finally moved from the People's Republic of Maryland after living there 30 years. Greatest day in my life.
The people there are crazy. My wife's friend has a very violent husband and he beat her enough to put her in the hospital. She applied to a get pistol permit and was turned down by the gun permit board because didn't have "a good enough reason". Several years later, the same thing happened - ended up in hospital and application to get permit was rejected with the comment, "if it happens again, we just might consider it next time."

As we all know by now, it's not about the guns or the criminals. It's about controlling us. They can't do what they want to us as long as we are still able to fight back. Thus, let's get rid of the guns, but we need a different reason than the truth in order to do it.
TZhere is something very rarely said in the GC debate...or if said kinda covered up. Most ot the murder rates even in the big cities happen in very small(relatively) areas. not really discussed is most of that crime is in inner city areas with mostly people of color. This is not an attack on them. This is just a fact. Those people who are preyed upon by the lawless murderous element are "citizens" of those areas who know who the bad guys are and will not come forward and point the finger...then the prosecutors will not prosecute anyway and the agenda of the powers that be is not control of criminality...it is control of people and money. Again follow the money. Community problems cause a NEED for money to combat the effects of criminality. Throw money at a problem fixes it, huh?? But the root cause is the people in those areas do not demand the criminals to be removed from their society that is being harmed the most. Why?? Sounds a bit crazy but is it time for a little vigilante justice? BTW as Bemmerguy said I also spent time in Baltimore in the past and it truly was a pretty safe place till about 1975.

Which county do you live in? I live in Douglas County, just South of Carson City. No problem getting a permit renewal here. If you live in Washoe County, well no surprise.

Whoa!!!! Sounds like NY of all places makes things somewhat easy for permit holders. Got my permit in 1990. Good until revoked…….. as of 2013 they do require you to go online and re certify which guns are on your permit every five yrs
