Is there something in the water in Texas?....

Cause they're frustrated that they can't force their will on others. Good thing they're not in charge of upholding the Constitution, since they don't like ALL of it, just what suits them.

As for the likes of Target, Sonic and the rest, I won't spend a single penny in any of their stores.

Eventually, you might run out of places to shop or eat.

Well, if you consider Applebee's, Jack in the Box, Sonic and the like, food, which I don't, then one could possibly run out of places to eat. :D

I doubt the outcome would be any different if you tried to walk into a 5 star restaurant with a rifle slung across your chest. Both Target and Wal-Mart have policies against open carry here, especially since they sell alcohol, and those are the big, General retail stores in our town. Grocery stores sell alcohol too, so no open carry there either... looks like you are fixin' to starve!

Doesn't count unless they put up "gunbuster" signs, or 30.06 signs in Texas. If there is no sign, nothing has really changed, just like Starbucks CEOs weasel-worded letter.

Not true... they can verbally ask you to leave. If you CC, probably won't be an issue, but OC is off the table. The fact that they have made their wishes known though should be good enough. Funny that you will complain about your 2A right, but not recognize private property rights.

Sounds like Hatt has it right.

According to this story, anti-gun group Mom's Demand blah blah blah, has joined a national push against Target's gun policy. Funny, the San Antonio antis are fussing because Target had allowed a gun rally but tossed Moms off their property. ;)

Moms gather at local Target to ask for gun policy change - KABB - San Antonio Top Stories - News, Sports, Weather, Traffic

They aren't going to allow OC anymore now either... Corporate policy is now no guns allowed. Another business drug into politics and forced to take a stand. Score one for the moms if you ask me.

And their willing accomplices.

Who said the below?

A. Gun owner claiming to support OC.

B. Anti-gun zealot Brian Malte, senior national policy adviser for the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

Openly carrying a gun strikes fear and intimidation in places where families and children gather.

Your right to carry ends at their property line. There are far more moms shopping at Target than there are gun folks... force a corporation to choose a side and they will side with the money every time.

They would have to ask me and everyone else every time to leave. In person. And every time their corporate masters would see peaceful potential paying customers being run out of their stores that aren't marked with "gunbuster" signs and telling the media that they guess they'll just have to go shop at Walmart. That's, of course, assuming that the store could find someone with the guts to confront peaceful shoppers on camera.

I respect private property rights. If they post their property with "gunbuster" signs, I just won't go there. But if they do, they'll be closing before you know it.

They don't necessarily have to tell you... they can post signs, they can hand you a card with the statutory warning written on it, or a flyer, print it on receipts, put it in the user agreement of the Target red card, etc...

They could play it over the intercomm every 5 minutes...

However, you don't respect property rights when you know they have publicly stated that they do not want firearms on their property, yet you carry there anyway because they have not "legally posted".

One thing is certain, Target is hearing about this on their Facebook page. I haven't read every comment, but it seems to be about 50 /50...

Because far too many gun owners are a bunch of cowards. A few hundred people can get mega corps to change policies but millions of gun owners are too scared to take any sort of stand against a company. If 1/2 of gun owners had any sort of backbone announcements like this would cause stock prices to knock a hole in the floor.

I wouldn't be surprised if you guys were happy when Target/whoever else came out with these announcement. Your hatred of the open carry guys surpasses your support of the 2nd.

Corporate lawyers have to eat too!

Businesses want to divest themselves of any perceived liabilities.

Henceforth, no guns/weapons policies.

Open to the public.....Expect the public.

Businesses that want no self defense devises on their properties....
Should be prepared to provide a safe environment for the public/customers at any and all cost.

When a business strips an individual of his/her right to self protection,
that said business is in essence saying that they will take full responsibility for the safety,
well being and defend those patronizing said establishment from any and all harm while on their properties.

On the other hand....

Businesses could jest post a big ol sign in a dozen different languages stating;

"Enter AT Your Own Risk"

God Bless Texas

Hook em Horns

It's more like "too few gun owners are a bunch of extremists".

Just because a person owns guns doesn't mean that they support open carry, or a "guns everywhere policy", and most gun owners don't carry.
