Is this it? Is it really happening? Is the nonsense over?

As far as seeing mags on S&W site...doesnt mean they have it. I place an order at 5 am this morning when I saw that it showed Shield mags in stock again. Ordered two with Overnight shipping. It took my order, sent me an email confirmation, but no shipping confirmation. Called S&W and the sales guy told me that they are on backorder. When I told him it said in stock on the website he said that the website is not connected to their inventory system and that there is probably a FOUR MONTH backlog still on mags. So, all he did was change my shipping to standard and said he could not give me any kind of lead time, but that I should not expect to see them any time soon....

I travel all throughout Michigan and the madness is most assuredly not over. No 9mm anything, anywhere... not even overpriced. No guns. No ammo. No nothing.
I went three places in three metro areas in the last two days and I saw 10 boxes of .38 special wad cutter and some .45 acp. That's it. Tired of this.

When I ordered bullets from Bayou Bullets, I was told 6-8 weeks at least, finally got a call today, a bit over 9 weeks, happily gave him a CC #, 2K of 124gr 9mm on their way. He is not taking any new orders for awhile till they get near caught up. Precision Delta which is my other supplier is 16 weeks out, putting an order in with them tomorrow.

I heard on the news that the Gum-mint has placed orders totalling over six billion (with a B) rounds of ammo, in various calibers, for "law enforcement". I'm beginning to wonder whether the gummint is just buying it up to keep it off the market. Six billion? That's alot of ammo!

I find this particularly disturbing, given the current political atmosphere and assaults on the Second Amendment. If I had a box of ammo for every person I know who voted for anti Second Amendment politicians, yet they, themselves are hoarding firearms and ammo, I'd never need to buy another box of ammo. If it were not for such individuals, there wouldn't be a shortage! ....
I personally take offense to a person on a firearms enthusiast forum blaming his inconvenience on the only national media network which supports the Second Amendment, and calling them nuts.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who feels this way.
Not even close.

You're blaming Fox for 'there' scare tactics? And you own a gun? People like you who are responsible for supporting the anti gun politicians are as much to blame for the current shortages as anyone. Did you hear about the massacre at Newtown? Did you not see/hear all the Obamas, Feinsteins, Schumers, Reids, etc., jumping and screaming about the need to ban guns? "Never let a good crisis go to waste", Rahm Emmanuel. Did you not notice the last 'scare', when Obama was first elected? Fox is the only news outlet close to reporting news and supporting the 2nd amendment.
Amen. I love it when people trash a network that they have never even watched because of the BS that their idols in Hollywood and the MSM feed them.
collins kenny35, why don't you try watching Fox a few times and then come back and tell me exactly who you think is "nuts", and why.

Supply and demand. Some say itll take 6 months to a year to recover. Ammo companies are maxed out in production. I reload and got enough stuff to hold me over a while. At least hopefully till this madness settles a bit.

It's the luck of the draw. I found a brick of .22 remington gold on cabelas website a week ago told a buddy and they were gone half hour later. Looked around tonight on line and must have looked at a dozen sites not 1 single box of .22 in. The only 9 I can find are factory reloads and they want amost 20 a box. Guns have come down but the ammo is going to be scarce for a long while I'm betting.

i had to drive to the bass pro shot to find the 45acp ammo and man was it a long drive for me picked up 5 boxed of 100 rounds for 45 bucks a piece but where else am i gonna find 45 down here in south texas its dry for ammo

$42 for mags? Ouch! Thought I was about to order some...

I know, right? I don't need them bad enough to pay that kind of premium. Order from the less expensive places and just be prepared to wait. I still get them, it just takes a little longer.

Where can I actually order mags from, I don't mind waiting but everywhere lists them as not backorderable so I can't even do that.
Cabelas still has no 9mm or .22lr and vances was selling 9mm winchester for $19.99 a box.

As for the ammo and gun scalpers; in my opinion, they are not Capitalists, they are simply greedy individuals, lacking good judgement and morals.

If somebody has...

...spent their own money to purchase guns and ammunition, and
...circumstances dictate that they can sell that property to which they alone have earned clear title for a price that motivates them to part with said property, and...
... found another individual who wishes to part with their money in exchange for said property in a free exchange,

then I fail to see how either party (buyer or seller) should earn the designations...

... greedy.
... lacking good judgement.
... lacking morals.

Irony: decrying the tyranny of elected officials who work so hard to remove our individual liberties, and then casting aspersions upon people who choose to act as they see fit, which is the privilege of free men in a society not governed by well-intending overlords intent upon dictating private affairs.

May we all defend your right to have an opinion about the character of individuals who you do not know and with whom you've never had any relations. I can accept this right and even your practice of it. But I can not accept the obvious assumption that lead to your opinion, namely, that you and all other buyers have some inherent claim upon another man's property, such that YOU can tell HIM what is a moral selling price, or a potential buyer that their desired exchange infringes upon your right purchase something for a price you want.

Question: What is the difference between the indignance behind the question "How dare you pass laws that infringe my rights to own property (i.e. firearms)?"

and

the indignance behind the question "How dare you sell your own property to a willing buyer for a price that I would not pay?"

Answer: virtually none, except that the latter is only justified if liberty and property rights aren't moral virtues. I think they are; apparently you do not.

I find this much more disturbing than anybody blaming a television news channel, and I *know* I'm not the only one who feels this way. When we as individuals condemn the *morality* of the free exchanges in which others engage and through which no harm comes to any other person, we might as well vote for anti-2A politicians. There is no difference.

A few weeks ago I ordered a Shield 9 from my LGS. Pray tell, at what price point does our agreement to exchange my money for their gun constitute immorality?

Just dont complain about the higher prices that will tend to linger now that folks have grown accustomed to limited supply economics.

When anyplace here in Upstate NY has a Shield in stock that one can actually look at let alone purchase for under $600 that's when I will believe things are better...

Things must be getting better.. Buffalo Gun Center has the 9mm & .40 Shields in stock for $499 now..

That's not the way a free market system works!

When the supply catches up to demand and the ammo manufacturers start stockpiling ammo, they have a choice, either lower the price or slow production.

If they can make money and lower the price, they do. If they don't lower the price someone else starts selling ammo for less and takes the profits they left on the table.

For instance, if you owned Winchester and had a billion rounds of ammo in your warehouse and could sell it at a dime less a box than Federal is selling theirs, and you'd still make a great profit, wouldn't you do it? Yes you would.

The market sets the price.

Unless the government gets involved. :(
