Just my luck, after hearing how great these J&G model 64's are. I ordered one to give to the wife for christmas. I ordered the very good condition round butt from Paulie early on Tuesday the 15th thinking it'll ship 2 day air so I'll see it Thursday and that'll give me plenty of time to polish it up and make it look nice. I expected a rough finish (a few dings and scratches) no big deal, cosmetics can be worked out. Paulie said he'd go back and hand pick a good one since it's for the wife.
Thursday rolls around and no gun. It's the busy time of year so I figure maybe they didn't get it out that day. Friday still no gun. Aw it'll be here monday. Monday, call my UPS driver no gun. I'm getting a little worried here because Christmas is Friday and that doesn't give me much time to polish it up and put grips on it with all the other christmas stuff to do. I call J&G and talk to Linda. She was pretty nice and explained it took a couple days to put my ffl on file even though I faxed it in when I placed my order. The gun is supposed to arrive Tuesday. I call my ups driver this morning and he has the gun. I run down and meet him, log the gun in without really looking it over and do the background and 4473.
Now I get home and decide to look the gun over and clean it up. I notice that all the cylinder stop grooves have big burrs on the edges and the cylinder feels funny when closing it. Lots of end play when the cylinder is open. Somethings not right. The end of the ejector rod looks like someone unscrewed it using vice grips and the ejector rod is bent. I think the bent ejector rod explains the funny lock up. I seriously doubt anyone went back and hand-picked this one out unless I ticked him off on the phone.
I guess I'll wait and see what they say on the phone in the morning. I hope J&G has a good return policy. Anyway I doubt my wife will have her revolver on christmas unless I pay for overnight shipping both ways and it's hardly worth that.
Has anyone else had a similar experience with these guys?
