jamming M&P 15-22

i had the same EXACT problem as you with remington and whinchester ammo. i have since put 1000 rounds of federal 550 thru mine with hardly any problems. with the other rem/win i could hardly get thru a magazine. go with the feds

Just a nit to pick; it's a magazine, not a clip. :)

That said, are you following the directions in the manual as regards to loading the magazine? Simply pulling the loading button down and dropping a handful of rounds into the magazine will cause feeding problems most of the time,

Just a nit to pick; It may be a magazine, but I refer to it as a clip. :)

Thanks to all who answered my original question. I'm going to try some federal bulk and if that doesn't work, i'm going to go to CCI. As for the nitpickers, i'm 40 years old and been shooting since I was 6. So I know the difference between clips and mags. Sorry that my use of the term"clip"upsets you. Clip clip clip lol. Geeezzzz, ease up.

So it appears that everyone is telling me to go with the federal. Has anyone used the remington bulk ammo before and had the same probleming with the ammo failing to feed?

I have ~ 1100 rounds of Walley World Rem. Golden Bullets.
Bought~ $8.00 a 550 box years ago.
From experince I only use it in my bolt .22's. Even then it is bad.

Don't know why Rem Bulk .22lr is so bad???

About all I buy now is CCI Mini-Mags. 40 grain copper plated round nose - HV 1235fps.

Federal American Eagle seems to work also,

Shooting:
S&W 15-22
Sig 522
GSG 1911
Sig Mosquito

I have a Winchesrer model 190 that will shot anything I put in it.

Nobody's "upset"; some people just like to use correct terminology.

That said, there are a couple of different "Federal Bulk" rounds. The red box has 550 rounds and the blue box has 525 rounds. There's a difference, but offhand I don't remember what it is. All I have shot for plinking the last few years is the blue box. I just put another 300 rounds of it through the 15-22 this afternoon. In 2,000+ rounds I have had two fire failures and those both shot on the second try; no other difficulties.

I have a box of the CCI Tactical that I am loading magazines with this evening to see if there is any appreciable difference in accuracy in my firearm. The Federal Champion routinely groups under an inch at 25 yards and a little more at 50. I haven't checked group sizes at longer distances.

I hope the ammo change solves your problem.

Watch the vid on loading. And watch the rim placement. The rim of every round you put in should go in front of the previous. If not the bolt will have to pull the top rounds rim over the one under it. Can cause nosediving of top round and cause jams.

I stay away from Remington golds in the 15-22. Hollow seems too big and lots of loose lead. Not to mention you get sparkly Twilight fingers.

About three weeks ago I bought the 15-22. I have at least 1200 rounds through it. I've tried all the ammo that is recommended in the instructions. I didn't have any problems with any ammo.

However, the first time I went I had an issue with the trigger returning real slow. It was just lack of lube. It hasn't happened since.

Today I bought two more mags because in NY there is a ten round limit. They were S&W mags. These new mags were very sticky and the first round kind of got stuck a couple times. I think if they break in or I lube them alittle they will be fine.

So, so far so good with the gun and the recommended ammo. Using mostly Federal, 550 rounds for $25, thats about 4.5cents per round.

Don't "lube" your mags. Clean them if needed, but lube can cause build up and/or get on the ammo which could cause ammo problems if it breaches inside. If anything I guess dry graphite could be used on the follower. Personally I just take mine apart and wipe them down from time to time.

I wondered that myself. Comparing the two rounds they visually look exactly the same. Federal's web site shows exactly the same velocity, energy, etc.

my owners manual is pretty specific as to DO NOT use remington ammo....

Unless your manual is different than mine, the manual doesn't say DO NOT; it says DOES NOT RECOMMEND. The two statements are not synonymous.

Despite the DNR from S&W, lots of shooters here report no problems with Remington, just a lots of folks report problems with Federal.

Each firearm is a law unto itself as to which ammo it likes or doesn't like.

I was (1) simply correcting an oft-repeated mis-quote of the manual and (2) stating the FACT that many shooters here do use Remingtons without problems.

Don't know what your problem is.
